Tell you what, get in your car and drive somewhere tonight if you niggas know this storm 'aint shit. Let us know which car roof sticking out of the water is yours. It wasn't supposed to get bad until the drive home, anyway. Just peeped the forecast - shit just got real off the coast. Nothing but red on the radar and a defined rotation.

Just another summer storm in SETX, tho.

houston news and weather reports are the most hyped-up, worthless, sensational bullshit news in the USA.

i think the local businesses put them up to it so people will go on shopping sprees in-prep for the storms.

meanwhile, when the storms approach La, we do the "3 P" routine = prepare, pray, and then party. fuck it.

maaaan, you crazy if you think louisiana folks are 'afraid' of a damn hurricane. i know cot damn well you've heard of hurricane parties. we had 'em for katrina, and we have 'em for rita too.

the freezer gets cleaned out and the bbq pits are fired up.
the ice chests are full of ice blocks and beer.
the generators are full of gasoline and the music is playing... cause ain't no one going to work.

or, you get out of town... or you prepare for it.

katrina wasn't the first storm we've had that hurt. and if it wasn't for the levees breaking, katrina would have just been another big ass storm.

when it comes to being scared, speak for yourself. andrew punched us right in the mouth and so did isaac.

when you grow-up in louisiana, you grow-up learning how to deal with these storms, esp. mentally and emotionally.

now, i'm not gonna front, katrina put some stress on us (outside the levee system), but not nearly the stress that folks got in the city.

BUT IT WAS THE BACK-TO-BACK HIT OF RITA that REALLY put stress on us; i think they were like 4 weeks apart. :eek:

i'm experienced with dealing with storms, but that shit damn near broke me down. and where i live, the storm stress was over when the storm passed, but it was the residual flooding LOTS OF GATORS, SNAKES, ETC., that had us on edge.

they had BIG 8 - 12 foot gators walking round this bitch like stray dogs. snakes EVERYWHERE.

when it hits, you won't notice it. it's nothing but a light storm with some wind. there's hardly any orange & red associated with this weak ass storm.

the ONLY way this storm becomes significant is if it sits there and builds strength (and dumps rain on y'all) as it pulls moisture from the gulf.

If it stalls, Htown might have a problem...don't need that thing just sitting there dumping rain...

Don't have to be a serious hurricane, a simple tropical depression could be devastating if it dumps rain for a day or two on Houston
