Since Google dominates the internet, I believe they have the capability to tie in a free VPN/Anonymizer Service that is easy to use. Right now, unless there is HTTPS in your browser, anybody can see what you are sending and receiving. HTTPS still allows the website to identify who you are and log the activity that you are undertaking; however, it can't be intercepted by a third party in route.
Anonymizers allows you to view websites and your identity is unknown to the website. The website can be a private company that could behave worse than the NSA.

I use Google as an example due to their dominance, and huge resources that could easily provide this service to their customer. They have also announced their intentions to create end to end encryption of our emails. I believe Google has the ability to create a VPN service through its browser to its customers. They can also create the ability to allow the user to create an encryption key so that even Google is unable to decipher anything or provide it to law enforcement.
Mega.nz released their API to their service for public review and scrutiny. It provided a cloud service that stored your documents on their servers and allowed you to select a key unknown to the company. Google could release the code to their service.
In either event, this service would stop bulk collection of data where some analyst can use some Keyscore system to pull up everything you have done online, provide anonymity, and force the government to get a court order.
We need to level the playing field with the government, they have all this information on us, we have nothing on them. Plus there is rampant corruption, which warrants this type of service even more.
