Godzilla Minus One - Shaw Brothers Production looks DOPE!

Just got back from seeing it in IMAX.
The film is a "Goofy" MASTERPIECE!!!
When I say "Goofy", I felt that the Human Drama didn't come off well in spots.
Especially when juxtaposed with the "Main Threat".
And that it was trying too hard to modernize the 1954 Drama in that period film.

But...
When Big Guy shows up, all you can say is "HOLY SHIT!!!".
Then everything in the end works.
See this on the BIGGEST screen possible.
I plan on seeing it again in either IMAX or Dolby Cinema.

Is it better than Shin Godzilla? That’s my favorite Godzilla movie…

I wouldn't compare them so much.
I will say that seeing "MINUS ONE" in a theater full of people made Godzilla appear more of a terrifying, imminent threat.
Especially after Japan still hasn't totally dealt with the bombings.
I think that's where the emotion comes from with this film.
Going from a man-made disaster to a force of Nature one.

"SHIN" was still more (or less) a sampling of the films we seen prior.
Displaying the modern bureaucratic handling of a threat.
More SFX Godzilla than Human Drama.
There was really no emotional build-up to the point of Godzilla showing up.

Yo, that shit was good af!!!! Godzilla went ape shit on em! The film honestly could have cut at least 20 minutes worth of footage from it. Other than that it was damn good. The storyline was good, a true man vs monster story. It was almost like his guilt manifested itself into Godzilla. From the standpoint that he felt guilt about being a coward with his role in the military, then boom, the military gets attacked. He feels guilt for loving but not being able to accept his family(the lady and baby). Godzilla just so happens to attack when the lady is present.

Godzilla himself was epic! The look and the menacing nature. He didn’t give a fuck! And that fire breath was crazy. That shit was like an atomic blast. How do you kill something that regenerate like that? SMH

And they were able to actually accomplish that for only $15 million!!

Shareholders need to have all these studios audited.

And I meant to post that. lol! There’s definitely some convos that need to be had.

^^^^^

I haven't seen it myself so I reserve comments

But those who have?

Claim its better than almost all Sony comic book films, Antman and most of DC.

Sidebar...

Go see Blue Beetle and tell me you can't do great practical and CGI effects fir LESS than 150 million.

This may be the first Godzilla flick where I was legit invested in the human characters. I almost shed a tear or two.

The way they did Godzilla's atomic breath was dope as fuck!!!! It was more like a nuke being dropped!

If you're on the fence about this one, don't be. See it asap!

Best movie I saw all year. Godzilla looked 2K in a few shots, but the ocean views, and how they showed him basically treading water was dope. And for his attack? Christopher Nolan should feel ashamed cause he made Oppenheimer looks like sparklers.

Very good period piece that just happened to have a monster in it. 8.5 out of 10

I might have to take my cheap ass to the theaters to see this
For the past 5 days
I've been searching all over the internet for that movie :(

Rave reviews and box office records: How 'Godzilla Minus One' took the U.S. by storm

Its success tells the industry that moviegoers don’t have “action movie fatigue,” they have “bad movie fatigue,” one box office analyst said.

We all know king Kong ain't surviving a nuke right @tallblacknyc
This looks like Godzilla how they likely imagined him.
Gotta see this. I've been hearing nothing but good things.
Probably will watch this later tonight

I went ahead & checked this out in the theaters
Just got out a few minutes ago
Fellas.....this movie is a definite "must watch"
You will not be disappointed, even if you pay at the theaters

The movie is more focused on the human characters
But its way better character development than that bullshit "Monarch Godzilla" AppleTV series
You actually care about them & what they are going through
Because the movie takes place in Japan, during the 1940's, literally right after World War 2
And the characters are dealing with REAL SHIT
Like the aftermath of the Atomic bomb just being dropped, etc, etc

Godzilla only shows up a few times throughout the movie
But don't get it twisted.....bruh was not fucking around or playing any games !!!
Don't sleep on this movie, if ya'll still haven't seen it yet

Does King Kong exist in this universe?

Does King Kong exist in this universe?

I don't think so :dunno:
They did not mention anything about Kong
Unless I missed an "easter egg" or something
But the main focus of the movie was actually about Japan
Japanese culture, patriotism, pride, aftermath of a major war, etc, etc

What’s crazy is the film cost $15 million to make and has a global gross of over $40 million in a week.

It’s looking like it’s gonna break $100 million before Christmas.

You would think a film like this would have over a $100 million production cost and would have taken a loss.

This film definitely will make Disney, Warner Bros. rethink on their production costs on their future projects.
