I tried this on the main board to mixed reviews. I cleaned it up a little out of respect for the ladies. What ya'll think???

http://www.bgol.us/board/showthread.php?t=231180

I know this is the question of all questions around here, but here is my take on it.

I download shit. Of course I do. I'm on BGOL!

My reason for downloading is because somewhere around 2003 I realized that I was conditioned to buy albums from my favorite artists without hearing them first. Redman got a new album then I got to buy it. Method Man new shit? Ditto. Did Brand Nubian just make a new album? I got to get it. Then I pop it in the car cd player and...

So I started buying bootlegs first and then I moved on to downloading, but here is the thing. I never stopped buying albums. I just bought less because I could weed out the bullshit better. But some albums need to be bought. Let's keep the good artists in business please. Download Soulja Boy if you are curious about it. If you like it then......go buy it.

So here it is...Post the albums that are good enough to go cop today and tell us why we should not download it but BUY IT!

I'll kick it off with this.

Scarface - Made

Ghostface Killah - Big Doe Rehab

Jay-Z - American Gangster

Why have you not bought this shit? If you are still bumping it please support this man.

That's up for debate too. I am talking about the Devin's of the world. Who constantly put out good music and get shitted on by the public. :smh: But get like 3.5 million downloads of his last album. Everybody likes it but nobody buys it. :smh:

If we don't support the better artists the Bow Wow shit is going to continue to dominate. :smh:

I have to get back to you on this one. It takes some thought

It takes some thought as to whether you can support the same mu'fucka you'll be on here saying is the jam?

I support your movement. But the angle is off. Face is already paid. So is Jay. Back in the day, I would just have talked a white boy at the school out of his cassette tape, and that would have been that. Or dubbed the cassette one of partners stole out of the record store. See, for a guy like me, it has always been like this. For many on these boards, however, many of y'all scared to go over the speed limit trying to get to work. I want that new Face album, because it is a classic. And maybe my children's children may be digging through my shit one day, and create something off the original because it has lasted. Like them ole eight tracks I use to listen to with my daddy. Or the them twelve inches many of y'all producers are creating new emotions with.

And Andy... don't be so quick to run just because now you have somewhere to run to...It may come a time in your life where the walls ain't a click, and the fights ain't light emissions reflecting thirty digit sequences...

I feel you on the top part. That's the point of this thread. I bootleg too, but if the artist put out something I feel is heartfelt and thought out I will cop it. Maybe Jay and Face are not the best examples, but why are the dudes with money the only ones still trying to impress their consumers? :dunno:

To the bolded part...This is really a question I wanted thought out responses to. What I got in the other thread was kneejerk reactions to the title. At least ya'll read it and thought about the answer.

But I am not running. If you click that link and go to the main board I have been in the trenches since I posted that thread and I still am over there fighting, because I believe in what I said. You owe it to the artist to pay him for the enjoyment he is giving you. And he owes you if he wasted your time.

Regardless of our culture here on the net, in society as I am sure you know, there is a stigma applied to bootlegged shit. Yeah, when it first comes out, cool, who wouldn't, but most blacks that make real cheddar look down on that sort of thing. Trust me, we all are still apart and parcel of the breathing black community, cats on the main board are talking shit...

Same cats talking about collecting Jordans ain't passing up a chance to own original copies, trust me...
