Gatchaman aka [Battle of the Planets] movie in the works!

1: The feature will be directed by Kevin Munroe, the director for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Some of the original design staff have connections to earlier Gatchaman productions in Japan.

2: The storyline will feature an all-new adventure focusing on Ken, Joe, Jun, Jinpei and Ryu. The story is tentatively set to take place before the team's first official mission, and will show how the heroes develop into the Science Ninja Team. +

3: The story will take place on Earth. +

4: The story will be set in the Gatchaman universe, not Battle of the Planets. There is no "Spectra" (It will be Galactor) , no "Zoltar" (It will be Berg Kaste) and no "7-Zark-7" (He did not exist in the original however, I wouldn't put any in-jokes past the production crew).

its just hard to get excited about any of theses projects. i was weary of transformers and that was good. but i think its success has hollywood scrambling to make a movie about anything 80's childhood related...


thats pretty much a recipe for disaster for most of the projects... lets keep our fingers crossed they dont fuck it up.

A great way not to fugg it up is to do it totally with computer animation.

It will be 100% CGI.
according to IMDB The movie will be released in Japan first in 2008 and other markets later ( i guess for dubbing).
I Don't know if it will be in Theaters or DVD.

WHat you said.. As logn as they keep this one animated should be okay.
But I think they'll kidda'fie it. Instead of going the Beowulf route.. which did good money.

I doubt It. This will be for the Grown ups 'cuz its based on the Japanese version Gatchaman, and not the Americanized "Sandy Frank Presents Battle of the Planets".

The last Gatchaman remake was in 1994 and it had people dying and 1 scene of JUN (aka Princess) "topless" before she suits up and the Dubbing was not that bad either. (no BIRD GO, Tho')

The Comic that came out a few years ago was OK for fans but the issues were short and the arc dragged from issue to issue.
