Back in the 90's so much shit happened at the hood gas stations, they started closing early, no more 24 hours. Smh! One of my homies got killed at the gas station. We all hung out at the gas station after the club. So many people got shot or either killed back then. Smh! I seen a shootout where niggas sped out the gas station hanging out the window of the car shooting at each other, 90's was wild bruh.. Smh!

Got a quick gas station story - this one from the 2000s. So in our field we have some staff who are mental health consumers themselves. I had to do a couple of orientation shifts for a new staff at the time. I was in my 20s, and he was in his 40s or so. So he was a decent guy, though a bit intense.

Shortly thereafter I'm watching the evening news and there's footage of a standoff with police at a local gas station / 7-11 which is about 15 mins or less on foot from my house at the time. Apparently from the prior evening. Guy inside had some type of psych' episode and was threatening to kill the employee(s). Had a knife.

Luckily no one was injured.

I went to work the next day and asked coworkers IF they had heard the news, or seen footage. They hadn't. Had to fill them in like - "So yeah, that's the guy I was teaching on the job ..."

He clearly never returned to the workplace.
