Tesla Plant Elon Musk Reopened Logged Hundreds of Infection

More than 400 workers at a Tesla plant in California tested positive for the coronavirus between May and December, according to public health data released by a transparency website.

The data provides the first glimpse into virus cases at Tesla, whose chief executive, Elon Musk, had downplayed the severity of the coronavirus crisis and reopened the plant in May, in defiance of guidelines issued by local public health officials.

Automakers across the country halted production and closed plants for two months last year from mid-March until mid-May. After resuming production, other automakers publicly announced when workers had tested positive for the virus and halted production to prevent further infection among employees and to disinfect work areas.

Tesla, however, has released little information about employee coronavirus cases.

The data was obtained by the website PlainSite, which works to make legal and governmental documents publicly accessible. It showed that 440 cases were reported at the Tesla plant, which employs some 10,000 people. The number of cases rose to 125 in December from fewer than 11 in May.

A year ago, after officials in California ordered manufacturing plants to close, Mr. Musk suggested on Twitter that the measure was unnecessary and that cases in the United States would be “close to zero.”

He also called virus restrictions “fascist,” threatened to move Tesla out of California, and then reopened the plant a week before health officials said it was safe to do so. More recently, Mr. Musk has questioned on Twitter the effectiveness of Covid vaccines.

Lol, you're devaluing Musk's importance to Tesla big time.
He’s the reason why the stock is overvalued. It is because he derives his compensation directly from the stock.

I have come to the conclusion that the guy is a fucking idiot. I’m going to give Elon the advice I should be giving myself, “Please shut the fuck up.”

I love makin money as much as the next man but...“For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, but lose his soul?" - Mark 8:36

No. I sad he is a bad CEO. He was important but running a company is a different story. He doesn’t know how to manage people. He should not be in charge.

A few on friends worked with Space X people on the SLS and they told me he treats his people like shit. Dude is a legit genius but a shit leader.

I know about a dozen people from the Fremont factory and surrounding locations in various positions. Let's just say they make good cars but you do NOT want to work there.

Elon Musk is a horrible CEO. TESLA could be doing so much better without him. If he is kicked out of that company the stock will triple. If he doesn't get with it, he is going to mess up big. Eventually.

Not really.
Tesla was a failing company before he got involved. The whole EV space was dead.
Say what you will about him but his eccentricity, vision, genius, and leadership has innovated us into a new era.

Tesla cars you can't jump the battery and it takes 45 minutes for it to fully charge. I do agree with his statement on college.

yep! maybe not kicked out but "managed" , while theres some feeling of a method to his madness ( in the art of power) his desire for social clout has always got him in trouble and his fanboys just eat it up as "eccentricity" his actions during the lockdown revealed how much of a selfish person he is , lives in a bubble

Ask those idiots when full driving is coming.

Welp it will make Talsa a little bit cheaper for a day or two but if you're looking for a play buy Kodak, they now have investors lining up to help them turn things around, people sitting on the board that are invested themselves.

Elon's a nut-case.....but he's pushing that line.

What if it dips into oblivion? Smh. He needs to be checked immediately.
Another company is gonna swoop in and make better looking cars and it is over.

I look at his cars as a trendsetter, and eventually be matched in the future. His real money is going to come from all the batteries he's developing.

Let's hope. What happens when someone else makes better batteries?

eventually someone makes better shit. The best thing he can do is be an icon like he is right now. Steve Jobs played a similar game as well, but he became a cult of personality that people will follow apple no matter what.

All I'm going to say is this, if Elon join forces with anyone that makes a legit google/facebook/twitter competitor. That shit will blow the fuck up. There's a big segment of the population that wants a different social media platform that's viable. I think Apple is developing an ecosystem as well. We are well beyond the time for actual market solutions against this current big tech establishment.
