Chrome works pretty well for me and I use it across 3 Platforms. (Windows, Linux, Chrome OS/Chromebook) . I also have Firefox as well. The two big things to remember when it comes to Browser performance is one add-ons/ Plugins and two the condition of the underlying os and hardware. The more you ask a Browser to do the slower it gets and No matter how fast a Browser is the current state of your machine sets the bar on how responsive it. Sometimes a User's Windows profile can become corrupted and can slow the overall performance of all the software you are using. An easy way to troubleshoot your profile is to create a fresh account on your PC and try running your usual programs and see if there is a difference. Install add-ons as needed and guage performance.
If your PC has been in service for a number of years it may be time to wipe and reinstall. Preferably with a Real Windows OS disk instead of those factory images with all the Bloatware.
