FOX Shelves it's US "Luther" Remake becasue they can't find another Idris Elba

Damn nobody is asking the obvious question. Why does it have to be a us remake? whats wrong with the original? and lets face it, IE killed luther, so to see an american version of it would probably pale. IE has carved his own lane and trying to find an american actor to play a role IE is killing it is a recipe for failure. Like sherlock, I would question why don't they increase their production to crank out more episodes. 2 episodes of luther ain't shit. For those of you who watch IE, know what I'm speaking of. Its way to much just for 2 lousy episodes.


Why would I want to see an american version when the current version is working just fine. The issue is IE stock has risen and the original producers know this can can't afford it. He did 3 seasons on the wire all before his stock rose. He wouldn't go near the wire today. If he would, then he'd be like let's crank out a ton of luther episodes.

I can't think of a single american actor who i believe would do LUTHER justice. It just worked for IE. Anybody else is either going to do a bad version of his luther or take the character away from luther. Either way, a lose, lose!

I'm torn unless Elba himself was exec producing and making sure the quality remained I would rather nothing.

But I find it hard to believe they couldn't find a Black man to do the job.

I heard an interview with the creator of the original show. They want to change things to fit the american sensiblities and there are some things that are important to character and such that the average american won't be able to relate to. That and american TV has longer seasons than Luther was so they have to write it over.
