Fox censors Sally Field’s anti-war speech at Emmy’s.

At tonight’s Emmy Awards show, the audience cheered Sally Field’s acceptance speech, which recognized the mothers of U.S. troops. “Surely this [award] belongs to all the mothers of the world,” she stated. “May they be seen, may their work be valued and raised. Especially to the mothers who stand with an open heart and wait. Wait for their children to come home from danger, from harm’s way, and from war. I am proud to be one of those women.”
Field then continued, “If mothers ruled the world, there would be no –” But the Fox Emmycast cut off her sound and pointed the camera away from the stage, silencing the rest of her sentence: “god-damned wars in the first place.” Watch it:

It was about the "Goddamn." Several folks were edited (thanks to tape delay) last night due to language.

stop making excuses for Fox news. When others used curse words, they simply bleeped them out. They cut her entire statement and cut the camera off her.. it was about the war.

Not true, idiot. Everytime they edited someone (like Ray Romano and others) they cut to a general shot away from the person for several seconds. That's in order to get the delay synched-up again and to avoid lip-reading.

FoxNews has nothing (ZERO!) to do with the entertainment shows on the Fox Network. (If they did, The Simpsons wouldn't bash 'em every week.)

Stop getting all excited over nothing (as usual).

speaking against the war is speaking against bush, & we know that's a no-no

....I know this shit already guy, I'm one of the number of people on this board who bash political figures and the government on a number of things.

but she said God damn and that is more than likely the reason it was censored. FCC feels the need to edit everything little thing mainly due to Janet being unjustly ostracized after the super bowl because of the wardrobe malfunction.

But I wouldn't be surprised if it was about the war because Faux News is the governments top whore in a brothel of many whores.

This is fox were talking about so no one should be suprised. Plus she did say some stupid shit like if mothers ran the country or the world there would be no wars lmao. She still should have the right to say it though.

Nigga youre the idiot.. saying "god dammed" is not against FCC regulations. Youre full of shit and so is Fox.

Fox US producers of Sunday's Emmy telecast censored best drama actress winner Sally Field Sunday evening after she veered off into a remark criticizing the US invasion of Iraq.

"If mothers ruled the world, there wouldn't be any god -" she said when the sound went dead and the camera suddenly turned away from the stage so viewers would be distracted. Chopped off were the words "god-damned wars in the first place." According to the LA Times, the phrase was not censored in the Canadian telecast.)

Technically, the use of "goddamn" is not profane, according to a 2003 FCC ruling regarding Bono's use of "goddamn" at the 2003 Golden Globes.

Field bested Edie Falco for "The Sopranos."

Backstage, in the press room later, Field told reporters, according to the Times "I would have liked to have said more four-letter words up there!" and "Oh, well. I've been there before!" when asked about the gag.

"Good," she added. "I don't care. I have no comment other than, 'Oh, well.' I said what I wanted to say. I wanted to pay homage to the mothers of the world. And I very, very seriously think that if mothers ruled the world we wouldn't be sending our children off to be slaughtered."

thanks for the info

This was definitely about the war

divine, you brought the beef on with b**** in this thread as much as I hate to say it:(. That is why b**** is put on ignore by many on here. I am not saying don't challenge b**** at all, but b**** has a way with snide remarks and you should know this by now. That is why the ignore b**** movement had steam.

The network can edit anything they want. Better safe than sorry when it comes to language on a primetime show. No great loss, and NOTHING in what she said was anti-Bush. Being "anti-war" is hardly a big deal, on FOX or anywhere else. The ENTERTAINMENT part of the network trashes the government and Bush all the time. The separate NEWS channel has nothing to do with the EMMYS.

What she said is obviously true.

She still should have the right to say it though.

She did have the right to say it, and did. No one in the government stopped her. The network, however, has no obligation to broadcast anything they don't want to, whether it be bad language or (what they deem to be) inappropriate political speech.
