Former NFL running back Danny Ware is mourning the death of his youngest son, Danny Josiah, who was killed Friday after being struck by a vehicle near the family's Atlanta residence, according to a GoFundMe page set up in remembrance.

Ware, who was on a pair of Super Bowl-winning teams with the Giants, penned a heartfelt message on his Facebook page early Sunday requesting prayers and support from old fans and teammates. The age of the child was not disclosed.

My life has been a roller coaster in every (sense) of the word," he wrote. "From high school to college to NFL. I've never had it easy nor have I ever forgotten where I come from. I pray the lord to give me a sign.

"I've lost my youngest son to a truck that didn't see him, I can't imagine what it felt like and would trade myself any day to have my son Danny Josiah back with his brother, sister and family. Danny I love I'm so thankful I got to talk to you today b4 the accident happened and we both got to say we loved eachother. Anybody that know me and know how much I love my kids please pretty please pray for my family as I'm at a breaking point and need all the help from God/family/friends we can get."

Ware played briefly at Georgia and left for the NFL after his sophomore season.

Known as "D.J." during his time in the league, Ware went undrafted but spent five seasons in a reserve role with the Giants and one with the Buccaneers. He last played in the NFL in 2012.

alot of pro athletes go broke shortly after leaving the league.
especially if u come from a background where u haven't been taught how to handle money.

now combine that with being one of the least paid out of your peer group but living in one of the most stuntinest, keeping up with the jonesest cities in the country. recipe for disaster.

ur a real piece of shit for disrespecting that man as he tries to bury his kid.

RIP to that little one. Stories like this put all my personal issues into perspective.

Is this where we talk about the owners assets going up 5000% while the players can hope for a cap bump?

More money for them to BLOW?
No, I think this is where we talk about being smarter with your finances
and getting life insurance for your kids, spouse and loved ones.

Where's the disrespect? HE Disrespected himself...NOT ME

RIP to the lil man.

Now to the financial part; GFM is basically e-begging and while I understand the cost associated with a funeral, asking for money to help family travel and "all other burdens"; sorry but can't get with that. He'll get the cake from UGA alums but I just can't comprehend how, within 24 hours of the passing of a loved one the thought is to go beg for money. I say that for all the GFM you see on the news and online nowadays at the moment someone has a life issue, boom, GFM is up. It's kind of smart and sad at the same time.

RIP, shit don't smell right. How can you go through that much cash, and he played long enough to have a NFL pension. If he has two super bowl rings, sell them if need be.

RIP to the young child. This is another case of young athletes thinking, or rather not thinking with a sense of urgency. Because he didn't prepare and learn how to protect his assets he looks to GFM. This is a truly sad situation. But it speaks volumes to the fact that the amount of money you make is not as important as the money you keep. How many pro players get jerked by lawyers and advisors because they're ignorant to the shit they sign their names too? You pair that with the usual dumb decisions that WE ALL make when you're young with a sudden influx of money and opportunity and stories like this are a byproduct. I hope he and his family can use this tragedy as a learning opportunity going forward.

First and foremost, RIP to his son.

But I'm sorry. Get a loan, scale back on the funeral expenses, and mourn your son. The father is still a very young man, he should be able to pay for his kids expenses.

If the father genuinely didn't have the funds to pay for his son's funeral, there is nothing wrong with asking for help.

However, if the father is economically able to pay for his son's dignified homecoming but still request money from people at the expense of his son's tragedy, then yes. That is very shameful.

I won't go into it, but I got madd stories about homies from the block that died in the struggle. Their families had to do car washes and shit to raise money for funerals. There wasn't any gofundme back in those days.

Shit, if you ain't got the money then you just don't have it :dunno:

R.I.P to Danny Josiah Ware.

why dont cats get life insurance for themselves and their families? term insurance is cheap....very cheap

DJ Ware is not begging for money.
The GoFundMe page was set up by his former teamates to assist their friend in his moment of crisis.

This go fund me campaign was setup by his former teammates to support him, not because he begged for assistance.

As a fellow father and friend I felt it was the least we could do.
NOONE should come on here leaving negative comments based off assumptions.
I can't believe people can be so evil and inconsiderate. He just his youngest child!
