Food: Pepsi dumps Sierra Mist, debuts new lemon-lime soda to compete with Sprite

Only time I have soda is when it's mixed with rum or whiskey. Never liked Sierra Mist. Loved 7Up better than Sprite as a kid though....

Quick question, why did these corporations market lemon/lime sodas to Black folks so heavily? I remember when 7Up pushed their product in the 80s with that West Indian cat, it was like all the lemon/lime drinks did it after.

In general when most white adults switch to diet sodas (around the time you hit 30) Black consumers still drink sugary sodas. In general when it came to sugary flavored sodas the Black community was a longer more consistent market.

sierra mist was nasty anyway. and that new name is dumb, that's all they could come up with? starry?
The same person who came up with the name Starry is the same person who came up with the new Gerard Butler Thriller name with Luke Cage

Them soda's ain't no good for you with that high fructose corn syrup shit in it.

I'll pass on that!

Actually, Sierra Mist was made from pure sugar. Not that it made it taste better or was better for you.

Sierra Mist was the only Pepsi product that I drank, and only if I couldn't get Coke or Sprite.

Thats a good question. I think they run some test to see what we like. Not saying the test accurate but they always come with some form of lemon lime. In the hood it's always some orange or grape, coconut, champagne flavored or ginger beer.
I think they target the black youth and get them hooked to sugar very young. Just my two cents, but we all know none of its good for us.

Went from drinking soda every single day, sometimes all day to drinking only water. With that change alone I've lost and kept 30lbs off and counting. A couple times a year I'll have a glass when I order a pizza or something like that, You'll be surprised how nasty soda is once you've detoxed off that bullshit and try it again.

It's funny, I never fucked either the colas (Pepsi, Coke)... But Sprite was my go to.

I stopped drinking them awhile ago though. Cut back on my sugar intake drastically once mom got diabetes 10 yrs ago.

Sierra Mist was watered down trash from the jump, surprised it lasted this long.:smh: Had to quit with the sugary sodas for health reasons, healthier alternatives include Bubly, A-ha and Waterloo. Try low sugar alternatives such as Spindrift, Oli-Pop, Poppi and Zevia.
