(this memes sum up my feelings on this matter)
"Manny Pacquiao is broke.
Manny Pacquiao got outboxed by Erik Morales.
Manny Pacquiao lost all four fights to Marquez.
Manny Pacquiao got put to sleep by Marquez.
Manny Pacquiao lost to Timothy Bradley.
Manny Pacquiao has lost two straight.
Manny Pacquiao should go make sushi.
Manny Pacquiao beat all these guys at catchweights … it is meaningless … even though I fought Canelo at 152.
Manny Pacquiao is irrelevant.
Manny Pacquiao lost to Bradley, got KO’d by Marquez and then beat a lightweight in Rios and now is the mandatory for my belt … fuck it.
Manny Pacquiao fought like an amateur against Bradley.
Manny Pacquiao is old.
Manny Pacquiao can’t sell.
Manny Pacquiao is not a draw, his numbers are terrible.
Manny Pacquiao wants 50/50
Manny Pacquiao now wants 55/45, still no.
BOB ARUM.
The fight really does not hold much weight anymore (2012)."
These are all excuses, and I might be forgetting several, I have heard Mayweather spit out of his garbage, uneducated mouth in interviews. If all these things are true, why not fight him? Since, you know, he is so easy? This is the thing with Mayweather. He consistently calls out Pacquiao’s fighting and selling ability; downgrading both, acting as if Pacquiao’s legacy is not near his (well, guess what, it is!!!), yet refuses to fight him.
The only viable thing I ever heard from Mayweather is the testing thing. Pacquiao was being picky in that regard, I agree, but he agreed to it eventually (yes, this was PRE KO and I can bring up interviews of it).
I like Mayweather as a fighter and appreciate his skill and craft. I appreciate his tremendous resume littered with hall of fame fighters. However, it is quite obvious this man has never wanted anything to do with Manny Pacquiao. Manny Pacquiao has been the one pushing for the fight; for the better part of 5 years.
A little while ago, there was a thread about Mayweather completely, openly ducking a Pacquiao question following the Maidana fight. I posted something along the lines of, I like Mayweather. But this is getting ridiculous (or has been for a long time). The fight with Pacquiao needs to happen.
