i wear 7 1/4 but it fits too tight. the shit leaves a red mark on my forehead when i wear it too long.:smh::smh::smh::smh: but heres the problem 7 3/8 is too fucking big! it goes over my ears and leaves 'gaps' near my temple. i think my head is in between sizes, slightly too big for 7 1/4 but too small for 7 3/8.

this video is using a machine to stretch a hat in nyc but i dont know where to go to get that?

also i seen this on the net

its new era baseball fitted hats... anyone got any ideas???

Sometimes it depends on who made the cap. I notice that Mitchell & Ness caps fit smaller than Newera caps. And Reebok caps are larger than Newera.

As a Professional Hat Conisseur here is the best advice i can recommend (no Bullshit! This works in most cases!)

take your Hat, raise your left or right knee up or just do this while sitting down, put your knee inside the hat with the Teamlogo facing you, grab the inside of the Teamlogo side of your hat with both your hands (just kinda cup them underneath) and carefully but forcefully pull the Teamlogo side towards you while keeping the knee in place until you hear the seams crack then immediately Stop or you will tear your Hat apart. It sounds harsh but trust me it works everytime to give you the extra space needed for your fitted! Let me know if that was sufficient enough!

Peace

Really? Man those Mitchell and Ness hats are big as shit on my head and I copped 2. I'm trying to figure out how to make them shits smaller.

New Era hats are inconsistent as shit. My New Era's are all the same size but they all fit bigger and smaller than the other.

Haven't worn a MLB fitted cap since 9th grade. I'm not into what inner city America thinks is cool clothing nor music wise.

Wet the band that goes around your hat on the inside and leave it in the car on hot a$$ days.
I could never figure out why my hats kept shrinking.
My sweat and the heat "shrunk" my hat.

Never tried this but "they" say wear your hat in the shower.
The heat and moisture will constrict the band making it tighter

Word. I have two Yankees fitted at the same size just in different colors & one is damn near yoking my forehead while the other fits perfectly. Shit be having me heated.

Im the same way, in between sizes I guess!!
But i try on multiple hats of the exact same size until i find a winner

Eventually one just feels right.

Yea it might be the other way around. Mitchell & Ness caps fit bigger than New Era. I know Reebok does a nice job on sizes.

i don't wear hats very much nowadays, but my biggest beef is the front of hats, they are bigger than they use to be 10 years ago, and you can't curve them as smooth as you could back then, its so big, i never wear it the right way, i always wear it backwards. I thought this post was going to be about the big fronts on today's fitted caps.

New Era also fkd me up when they started using various materials. Don't know about your location but here in Atl, far as I know Lids and Foot Locker have the most fitted caps. Their getting better but a year ago they selling all these paper feeling hats. I remember going Lids and I asked the girl if something had changed in the material and she informed me the paper feeling hats (i forgot the exact name she called them) were the in thing. They had the regular material hats but not in a variety of colors, pretty much the authentic colors. I think those different texture hats changed the fit of the hats, if not they definitely changed the way the hats look on your head. You ngz can also blame rappers like Fabolous for all the crazy fitting hats, I guess when rappers a few years back started wearing over sized hats New Era started changing the fit. Kind of like when baggy shyt was in it was hard to find regular/relaxed fitting shyt, then when tight shyt came in style a nga had to buy shyt 2x the size just for a relaxed fit.

To the op, the last few hats i bought are all the same size, but they all fit smooth when i have a fresh hair cut (i have a low cut), if i don't get a cut every 2 weeks the hats definitely fit tighter. I think anytime you wear a properly fit hat for an hour or so its going to leave a mark on your forehead, just like if you wear glasses for a few hours, etc...But, Lids (a popular hat place here) have all kinds of custom stuff for your hats to fit properly, to survive water, to properly clean you hats, to customize your hat, etc....So I'd check with the popular chain in your area, but I just end up buying the same damn hat every 5 or 6 months.

It is hard to say, normally, it seems that the hats shrink a little over time, after they either get wet, or if you sweat/etc

Like others have said, sweat and time shrinks em...

On a side note...i wish they would bring back the white sweat band/grey underbill joints....the black headband lasts longer, but the white looks SWEET!!!

The new nee eras they changed to a couple of years ago are better.

I notice they don't shrink like they used to.

You used to wear a fitted on a hot summer day, and then try to wear it two days later :smh:

I don't wear fitted caps but I do wear fedoras, trilbies and other felt hats. I can tell you felt can be stretched to fit your dome. J.J. Hats on 5th Av coupla blocks down from the ESB in NYC will do you right. I'm sure there are other places that can stretch hats but I've used J.J. for years. By all means stay away from those do-it-yourself stretchers. They don't give an even stretch or use steam, which is essential for stretching hats.
