Resumes are very very business specific. A great resume will look vastly different depending on what industry you are in. If I were you I would go to the carreer service department at your university. They should have plenty of sample resumes on file. Also try to find you a mentor or an alumni who would be willing to take a look at your resume before you send it out. If you can find someone who has done the hiring in the field you are looking at that is the ideal situation. Once again make sure you tailor your resume for what the job you are trying to get. A sales job resume will look different than a managerial resume.

After you have your resume and cover letter (don't forget that). Get a list of all the potential employers you want to look at. Since you are about to graduate and be a professional do not look only in the want ads. You want to target as many employers as possible (when I was in law school the typical student sent out 100-200 resumes and cover letters just to get a summer job. I used mailmerge in microsoft word otherwise this would have took weeks. Also if you no someone who is looking for a similar job you can cut this time in half by working together and using the same list).

This is where your networking needs to come into play. If you find a company or a program that is right up your alley contact your alumni department and look for anyone who works there. (If I were you I would look at a managerial program that looks for people who want to get their MBA. If you can get in the right track they will pay for your MBA for you.) Contact the alumni and get as much info about the company as possible. The very least you need is the hiring managers name.

Good luck.
