I disagree, though I understand the point you're trying to convey. There are conservative democrats. It only means they don't swing completely left on a lot of issues (gay marriage for instance).

There are plenty of people who can't get behind the GOP ideology and their covert racist activity but who also aren't neo-hippies either. they fall into the "Kennedy" or conservative democrat labeling.

Overall I'm a leftist moderate, but I'm also a fiscal conservative except when it comes to education spending. I'm all for that.
