I know a lot of people don't like his work...

and he really only had two REALLY good films...

CLERKS and CHASING AMY (which is a classic in my opinion)...

but this film slipped under the radar and was VERY GOOD...

I have met no one else (other then Kevin Smith stans ) who have seen it...

clearing out my HD forget i "rented" it from the board a while back...

I'm grading on a curve because it is SUCH a departure from his usual...

this is a very interesting flick...

its far from perfect and could have been fleshed out more...

but damn it for HIM this is some "Godfather" level shit...

I really think shows major growth...

WHAT Ya'll THINK???

Thought this one was pretty good as well.

*two cents*

I agree:yes:

I actually enjoy ALL his movies except COP OUT...

he has really grown is my point and would have thought he would have received more recognition for this film...

especially with the subject matter...

Original Ending

During various interactive Q&As for the film, Smith has stated that the original ending actually continued through with the trumpets signaling the Rapture. After Cooper tells Keenan to shoot him, Cooper's chest explodes, followed by the remaining family members' chests exploding one by one, and then the remaining agents' chests exploding one by one. During these deaths, the ground shakes and splits, and Keenan curls up on the ground and closes his eyes. When he opens his eyes he sees the last agent killed with a giant sword coming out of his chest, which is being wielded by an enormous armored angel. The angel looks at Keenan, puts a finger to his lips, and says "shhhhh". The angel then flies off into the sky, and as the angel banks out of the picture the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse descend.

That is kind of silly just based of the fact that the rapture is only several hundred years old as a tenet in fundamentalist Christianity.

That reminds me of the ending to The cabin in the woods.

Chasing Amy was good...but the ending was thrown together....like most of Smith's work....

But Red State to me wasn t bad. I liked the ending that I saw.

And I believe that there are cults that can act the same way homeboy did....

I watched this movie on an iPhone 4s 2 yrs ago, and it had me glued to the screen for the whole duration of the movie. The only other movie that had me captivated like that to an iphone4s was Good Time.

After watching Red State, I felt Kevin Smith was so underrated. This dude knows how to tell a fucking story when the subject matter is the Westboro Baptist Church. He wrote, directed, and edited the movie himself. Tarantino said Kevin Smith gave Michael Parks the best movie of his career, something he wish he could’ve done. His other films were kind of hit or miss, but Red State was a fucking great film.
