Why didn't she ask for his permission/opinion first before getting said haircut?
 
Sounds like using the cutting of her hair was just an excuse to break up.

She's a pretty girl, long hair or not.

And, in this day and age, she can weave it up and have the appearance of long hair.

I'd love to cut my hair but 1) I think I look better with longer hair because of my round face and 2) I can get the appearance of short hair with crochet braids ( just figured this out a few weeks ago, I'm dense lol.)
 
No permission needed but let a brother know ahead of time. I ain't gonna lie, I broke up with a chick over a haircut and change of clothing style. Chick went Bohemian style on me. From wearing tight jeans and short skirts showing them pretty legs and ass to men's jeans and sandals and Dashiki tops. Zero femininity at all!! OH HELL NO!!
 
This is not uncommon at all. A whole lot of relationships have gone south over women going natural. A lot of it is the initial short length tho, as soon as it grows out most menfolk calm down. I figure if he can't weather a haircut, there is no way he can survive a physical disability or something. Find out early and be rid of him.

That said, men don't like stuff based on perception of what a woman is wearing. On the hair boards a lot of women used to participate in hide your hair growth challenges where you do protective styling for several weeks or months at a time and take before and after pictures. So this one chick wears her hair out after a few months and her husband yells at her and told her to get that stupid looking weave out her hair. It was all hers... smh..she was relaxed tho. I think she may have eventually gone natural.

A lot of these menfolk that claim they want natural women break their necks getting to the ones with weave all down their back. If men really hated weaves, women wouldn't wear them. Weaves get attention so they will continue to wear them.
 
Breakup seems excessive, but if he lost his attraction for her, why stay together?. It would bother me just like any significant physical change has the chance of doing.

There were only two times that I had ever had anything to say about my wife's hair and whatever style that she wanted to wear.
The first was when we started dating, she was still wearing a curl...not a full Jheri curl, it was looser than that and not all wet, but "Babe, you gone have to let that go.:smh:"

The last time was when my son and daughter-in-law came home for the Holidays from Germany and she got my wife hooked on wigs.:hmm:
My wife had a head FULL of natural hair that she'd only wear in a fro on occasion. I grumbled like a muhfucka to no avail though. I just had to put up with it.
After the first time going through Chemo though, I didn't have anything else to say, even when it grew back with all new baby hair and FINALLY 5 or 6 grays popped up.:lol:

Women and their hair is a strange relationship!!! As far as women go, a "bad hair day" can easily be code talk for an "emotionally challenging day"!!! It's best to leave them to their own devices and feelings when they make these drastic changes to their hair, especially when they start cutting on it!!! Wait to be invited into the convesation BEFORE you comment on what she's done to HER hair that you may not like. Fella seems to be holding on much to tightly about some hair. Feels like he was waiting for an excuse to end the relationship and the hair was a good opportunity to do so!!!
