Paramount Teams With F. Gary Gray To Turn ‘MASK’ Into Film Franchise

f-gary-gray.jpg

EXCLUSIVE: Paramount has made a deal with F. Gary Gray to team with Hasbro to develop to direct MASK. The live action film will be built based on the ’80s Kenner action figures and the animated series. MASK is an acronym for Mobile Armored Strike Kommand, a task force led by Matt Trakker whose goal is to take out the criminal organization VENOM. The film will be produced by Hasbro, and Gray. They will move quickly to set a writer to hatch a contemporary subculture movie with a youth empowerment angle.

Gray is coming off $1.2 billion global grossing The Fate of the Furious and Straight Outta Compton, and he is in pre-production on the untitled Men in Black reboot for Sony Pictures that will star Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson. That film, produced by Walter Parkes and Laurie MacDonald and exec produced by Steven Spielberg, begins production in June for May 17, 2019 release. Gray sparked to MASK because it is a vintage property that could be revamped and have something to say to a contemporary audience. For Paramount, it is exactly the kind of franchise swing that the rebuilding studio needs.

Gray is repped by UTA and Principato-Young.

Just Gargoyles next..... I always thought with the new CGI and animation Turbo Teen would surely comeback!

I forgot about fucking Turbo Teen...

Yeah

Turbo Teen Movie..

I also think that Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors ..... Basically Lord of the Rings meets Mad Max

and also.....

The Pirates of Dark Water... would make good franchises... (Alien Pirate ships....)

Cool move! I liked Mask back in the 80s. I remember when they pushed it to morning time which I use to watch before I went to school. The cool intro got me pumped in the morning for school. The intro was cool. As far as other 80s cartoons, they should do Thundercats.

Bravestarr was more of a serious cartoon back in the day. They had real issues and real deaths. I remember the Bravestarr episode where one cat died from doing dope. I would like to see a Gobots movies done. I don't think Gobots gets the credit it deserves.

Personally I would love to see a Gobots reboot... I just don’t know how they could do it without it looking like even more of a transformers knock off.. the only way that it would work is it they left the Gobots pure generation one without trying to update the designs. The retro look would kill for Gobots

I wouldn't mind them updating the Gobot's design a bit, just a bit to the point they look the same but just kind of modern.

I want to see a remake of the VIPER cartoon or tv show based around the Dodge Viper.

Gawd damn i forgot about viper....the only problem with viper is that the car was too Fucking powerful... shit could turn invisible, shoot mussels, had shielding, a drone... I think it had a laser... could control electronics..

Shit was basically unstoppable... it was the Animal of high tech cars.
