We're flying to Madeira in January for 2 weeks to get a feel for the place. One week will be for vacay, and the other will be for work. Their digital infrastructure is pretty good, plus we have a VPN, so we can work remotely from there. Once we get a little acquainted, we're going to try to get a spot and start our G7 process. We're also taking classes to learn Euro Portuguese.

For most people born in the US, going without some things we call common will be unbearable.
In Belize, there is one beer, no fast food restaurants, 1/2 gallon of milk was $4.5, internet was $50/ mo for 20mb. And Belize is one of the more established central American countries.
However, if you are a person who is looking to scale down, those countries are worth it.
My wife and I are looking to purchase a beach home out of the US while keeping our home or another home here in the states.
It's interesting that whenever we travel, we rarely watch TV or surf the web.
