Jada McPherson, who spoke exclusively to Eyewitness News, said she was returning home from work when she was trying to park her car on Putnam Avenue near Onderdonk Avenue in Ridgewood, Queens Monday evening. She said a man put a garbage can to block a parking spot, and then a dispute quickly turned violent. Two people were arrested.

Fight breaks out over parking spots in Ridgewood, Queens

An unhinged mom and her foulmouthed daughter savagely attacked a female driver for trying to park in a spot they were “saving” in a caught-on-video brawl in Queens.

Andreea Dumitru, 45, and her daughter Sabrina Starman, 21, are seen in a viral video posted to Reddit unloading on victim Jada McPherson on a Ridgewood street Monday — pulling her hair, flinging racial slurs and unleashing a flurry of punches as she tries to fend them off.

“They were trying to literally rip my hair out of my scalp,” said McPherson, 21, a Pace University student who was renting in the neighborhood, where hoarding on-street spaces has locals fuming.

The battle broke out after McPherson tried to park in a spot Dumitru and Starman were guarding outside 18-28 Putnam Ave., cops said. An unidentified man also joined in on the gang-up on McPherson, but apparently high-tailed it out of the area before police arrived.

“The guy, he ended up coming up behind me while I was trying to park and put a trash can to prevent me from parking,” McPherson said.

When McPherson couldn’t find another spot on the block, she came back to tell the family they couldn’t guard parking spots, she said. That’s when the man went “ballistic” and the mother-daughter pair flung racist language at McPherson, who is black.

“You’re a monkey, bitch,” Dumitru is heard shouting in the video.

McPherson responds, “You’re an immigrant, bitch.”

Starman then yells “You’re a f–king slave bitch. You’re a slave for what it’s worth,” before lunging at her, and the fight ensues.

“I definitely did fear for my life,” McPherson said.

Starman and Dumitru were later arrested and charged with first degree assault and second degree harassment, police said.

After the arrests, McPherson eventually did get to park in the spot she fought for.

But she said she’s been on edge ever since and has only left the house with a friend or family-member. She plans to move out of the neighborhood this weekend.

“Jumping one person for a parking space is really not right,” McPherson said.

Parking space hoarding has sparked tensions in the area, with the family seen in the brawl notorious offenders who claim public spaces as their own with traffic cones and other items, locals told The Post.

“You know, I could move the garbage cans and park, but then they could slash my car or something,” said Yesenia Delgado, 33, who has lived in the neighborhood for 14 years.

“Someone is always there, holding the spot,” George Carrasquillo, 53, who lives across the street from the spot.

Carrasquillo often drives to work in Manhattan, but has to park two blocks away from his home because he can’t find a spot.

“I have to take my kick scooter with me to drop the car off, I find parking, then come home to my apartment, and have to see all this, their beautiful spot saved. Isn’t this public parking?” Carrasquillo said.

Starman and Dumitru have hired a lawyer and plan to fight the charges in court in September.

“You can’t claim to be a victim if you instigate an altercation with threatening behavior and vile and hurtful language,” said Mahmoud Rabah, an attorney for the pair.

Rabah says the mother and daughter duo have received death threats since the video was posted.

NOW THE WHOLE STORY: They are NOT charged with “first degree assault” (a violent felony). The QUEENS DA only charged them both with assault in the third degree - a MISDEMEANOR - and both were released WITHOUT BAIL or any supervision. The more you know!

Queens mom and daughter explain physical and verbal assault on student during parking spot brawl

A mom and daughter duo charged with ganging up on a Big Apple co-ed in a slur-laced Queens parking spot brawl are being pelted with online death threats — and have now apologized for the caught-on-video melee.

The alleged victim doesn’t wanna hear it, she told The Post.

“I don’t accept the apology only because I feel like the apologies are only because of how much outreach the video is getting and I don’t think the apology is wholesome,” Pace University student Jada McPherson, 21, said Monday.

“I don’t think it’s from their hearts, like deep down,” she said. “But I just hope they could see or see what they did wrong and kind of get a better understanding of how to operate or act in certain situations from this situation.”

Viral video captured the July 7 scuffle in Ridgewood, when mom Andreea Dumitru, 45, and her 21-year-old daughter, Sabrina Starman — along with an unidentified man — jumped McPherson after the student tried to park in a spot the friend was holding for them.

Dumitru and Starman have been inundated with insults and death threats over the encounter since the wild video, which shows them slugging McPherson, pulling her hair and throwing her to the ground — with both sides hurling racial and ethnic epithets at each other, the footage shows.

“You’re a monkey, bitch,” Dumitru is heard shouting in the video.

McPherson responds, “You’re an immigrant, bitch.”

Starman then chimes in and yells, “You’re a f–king slave bitch. You’re a slave for what it’s worth.”

In one disturbing text message the family received since the video went viral, an anonymous goon wrote, “You ready to die? Because I’m ready to kill you and your peoples (sic).

“You will be seeing me shortly,” the text said. “Mark my words, I am going to murder ALL OF YOU.”

Dumitru and Starman, who were charged with assault and harassment, now fear for their lives.

“I have hundreds of calls death-threatening me, telling me how they’re going to come,” Dumitru said in an interview. “I never in my life has experienced such trauma. And not only that, I have my little one and I have appointments and I have surgeries coming up. I have a dog. My mom is older.

“I fear for my life,” she added. “I’ve been threatened. I haven’t been sleeping since I got out of jail. I haven’t been able to rest. I have not been eating.”

The parking spot scuffle erupted outside 18-28 Putnam Ave., after the mystery neighbor agreed to hold the space by putting a garbage can there while Dumitru drove her younger son to McDonald’s.

When McPherson tried to park in the spot, all hell broke loose.

Starman claimed McPherson started the name-calling, and suggested she started the fight.

“It was the way she approached us and provoked us for a whole 30 minutes straight,” she said. “So, the 45-minute mark where we got arrested — because we were just only sticking up for ourselves.”

Still the mother and daughter, who had their lawyer with them when they spoke to The Post, offered an apology for the incident that now has them in trouble with the law.

McPherson, who is still upset about the three-on-one assault, said she feels the death threats are out of line and blows the entire incident out of proportion.

“I just feel like the death threats are unnecessary,” she said. “I don’t think the death threats are necessary. I just feel the violence, especially to [her] son, is completely unnecessary. He shouldn’t be at fault for something that they did.”

Meanwhile, Dumitru said she’s learned a valuable lesson from the whole mess.

“I’ll never do that again,” she said. “Ever. I learned my lesson. I will never do something like that again, and I will never condone something like that ever again.

“You want the parking? Take it. It’s not worth this. This is not worth it.”
