...and hopefully he'll have better success than his Piston tenure provided. Gentry, age 54, was awarded with a 2-year contract, with an option for the 3rd-year. He'll be the Suns' third head coach in 3-years...under GM kerr's watch.

Today, GM Steve Kerr lifted the "interim" title, making Gentry his 'main man'. He was quoted, "...(Alvin) Gentry is the right man to lead our team into the future". Those same words were used by him, when introducing recently fired (after 4-months) head coach Terry Porter (everybody recognized the Porter hiring as a soon-to-be firing waiting to happen...a defensive-minded coach hired to coach an 'offensive minded' team). So don't be surprise if Kerr's words are viewed as 'questionable and unearned praise'. If Gentry is still there after 2-years.... .

Well, we all make mistakes, but Kerr's are legend. (1) Dumping a winning coach in the likeness of Dan D'Antoni; (2) modifying an already proven winning system for 'what's behind door #3; and introducing the 'Big Dawg", who proceeded to 'glug' the middle hampering Stoudemire's game;(#4)failing to get Steve Nash some real help.

At least Alvin's has had some good and solid mentors, i.e., Larry Brown (Clippers), Kevin Loughery (Miami), and Doug Collins (Pistons). With the right parts, he'll do well. Keep in mind, Nash is not getting any younger.
