Ex-Notre Dame and NFL running back George Atkinson III dies at 27 from unspecified causes as report claims he's 'been dealing with depression' since his twin's suicide in January
  • Former Notre Dame running back and NFL player George Atkinson III has died at 27 nearly one year after his twin brother and ex-teammate Josh hanged himself
  • Atkinson's passing has been confirmed, but no cause of death has been given
  • George Atkinson III is survived by his two-year-old daughter
  • Atkinson III published an open letter following his brother's suicide, admitting that he had been institutionalized after attempting to harm himself
  • The twins are the sons of famed Oakland Raiders star George Atkinson II, and like his dad, Josh Atkinson played defensive back in college
  • They lost their mother to complications from Crohn's disease shortly before Josh's suicide. She had suffered from paranoid schizophrenia in their youth

Damn, can't imagine what that Dad is going through.

Sounds like both were the result of suicide, too. The downside to the holiday season... :smh:

Twins; man their emotions and pain were linked to each other from the womb. Horrible news for that family again, may the father find some peace, somehow, someday.
