Ewing made Georgetown...But Jordan didn't make NC.

I was talking to a dude at my lab. He insists that North Carolina wasn't shit before Jordan. I disagree. You had Phil Ford, James Worthy and Charlie Scott who were there before Jordan. North Carolina had a history before Jordan. Georgetown had NOTHING before Patrick Ewing. Any thoughts?

You are right. Carolina was already an established national power before Jordan stepped foot on campus. Players like Bob McAdoo, Billy Cunningham, Mitch Kupchak, Bobby Jones, Charlie Scott, Phil Ford all paved the way for Worthy, Perkins, and Jordan. UNC had already made the Final Four 8 times before Jordan got there.

Patrick Ewing MADE Georgetown basketball.

i did some research, and i agree with this. georgetown basketball started in 1907 i believe...but what started them on the road to prominence had as much to do with John Thompson as it did Patrick Ewing...nevertheless it felt good seeing G'town knock Carolina and that gotdamn Tyler Hansbrough out of the tournament a couple yrs ago.

Actually G-Town did have Sleepy Floyd. Their rise to national prominence was due more to John Thompson's basketball program than to Ewing. Although Ewing brought the NCAA title appearances with him, G-Town's NCAA appearances started when Sleepy got there.

Would say the success of both programs are due more to the coaches and what they brought to the table.
