NFL agent Eugene Parker has reportedly died at the age of 60.

His client and NFL Hall of Famer Deion Sanders took to Instagram early Friday morning: “My career-long attorney/agent and lifetime friend, hero, brother and confidant Eugene Parker has gone on to be with the Lord.”

Sanders also posted an image of the two together with his Hall of Fame bust:

Michael Silver of NFL.com called it “shocking and brutal news” and deemed Parker a “massive force in the NFL community.”

San Francisco 49ers running back Carlos Hyde—who, like Sanders, was a Parker client—reacted on Twitter:

R.I.P Eugene Parker

Clarence Hill of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram put Parker’s influence into context:

RIP to longtime agent Eugene Parker. He was a trailblazer and pioneer for black sports agents. Clients included Dion Sanders, Emmitt Smith

Curtis Crabtree of Pro Football Talk provided a list of current and former players Parker represented. In addition to Sanders and Emmitt Smith, Parker represented Hall of Famers Rod Woodson, Walter Jones and Curtis Martin.

A handful of notable current players such as Larry Fitzgerald, Allen Robinson, Alshon Jeffery and Sammy Watkins also called Parker their agent. Even incoming draft prospects Noah Spence, Jaylon Smith and Laquon Treadwell had already signed with him.

Parker’s agency, Relativity Sports, provided a brief biography on its website. Before he graduated from Valparaiso University with a J.D. in 1982, he was a basketball player for Purdue and was drafted by the San Antonio Spurs.

The biography called Parker “both a tough negotiator and a man of integrity” and pointed out that he looked to help his clients in life, beyond what they could do on the field.

Prominent football agent Eugene Parker dies of cancer at 60
Football agent Eugene Parker of Relativity Sports, whose client list included Hall of Famers Deion Sanders and Emmitt Smith, died Thursday night. He was 60.

"The family of Eugene Parker is deeply saddened to report the loss of their beloved husband and father," read a statement from Parker's family. "Eugene passed away on March 31, 2016 after a brief and heroic battle with cancer."

Parker, who was diagnosed with kidney cancer in November, was known as the most prominent and distinguished African-American agent. His other Hall of Fame clients include Rod Woodson, Walter Jones and Curtis Martin.

Parker inducted Sanders into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2011.

Parker played college basketball at Purdue and the San Antonio Spurs selected him in the fifth round of the 1978 NBA Draft. Rather than joining the Spurs, he chose to work on his law degree.

Parker's client list of active players included Larry Fitzgerald, Jason Pierre-Paul and Alshon Jeffery. Top draft hopefuls Jaylon Smith, Laquon Treadwell and Noah Spence had signed with Parker.

RIP his time may have been short but that man lived an amazing life.

Eugene Parker (February 24, 1956 – March 31, 2016) was the sports agent of Deion Sanders, Emmitt Smith, and many other NFL athletes. He has been named by Black Enterprise Magazines top 50 influential blacks in sports while also being known for the past two decades as owning one of the premier sports agencies in the country. Parker was also ranked 45 in the Sports Illustrated list of the top 101 most influential minorities in sports.[2]

RIP to the Brother. Hope he laid down the groundwork for his company to continue to strive after his death
