What is ESPN going to do if all the leagues stop playing?

Right now, they can talk about coronavirus and the impact. You can talk about that for maybe a week. But what after?
Same thing they do everyday... talk about LeBron, the Lakers, Tom Brady and the Dallas Cowboys....
WTF they gonna say about the Lakers? Think about it, they really can't.

All those channels are about to become ESPN Classic...

   yep especially Skip Bayless & Shannon Sharpe
You have a point there. Undisputed will do a LeBron health update every day, Bayless will wish death on him and Sharpe will say "No, Skip, LeBron is too strong for that coronavirus!"

But it will be an issue for the real sports shows like PTI.
Post or talk about good content here.

I'm enjoying "Pardon the Isolation." Not really checking for "Around The Home" as I never liked the original, but I'll tune in to "Highly Quarantined."

Pardon the Isolation

Around The Home

Highly Quarantined

I've been listening to Tony Kornheiser's podcast in the morning (good local content if you live in D.C.) and he said PTI might come back with he and Mike reflecting on themes and events from their combined eight or so decades of sports reporting experience. That sounds like it could be really good to me.

Bill Simmons has similar plans for his show and others on The Ringer.

For comparison's sake, I think what I saw was better than what I've seen from the late night scene:

But late night is a lot more sustainable-- they'll always have material, the only issue is the ability to execute. Sports is another story: There has been a fair amount of NFL news this week but I can't imagine Around The Home during a slow sports week.

I used to like his ESPN radio show a decade and a half ago before Cowherd took over his slot, haven't really listened to his podcast much.

I did download a couple of weeks ago when I couldn't fall asleep to listen to his debate coverage-- was disappointed to hear him call Sanders and Warren "irredeemable" during an episode titled "I'd like to be a billionaire" but shouldn't have been surprised, just a reminder that it is easy to forget that these guys are filthy rich.

But I did enjoy his local Safeway coverage earlier this week.

The last two days,Im not sure if they're going to be a show today. If,they decided to do one it will probably be around 7pm EST.

It's been all free agency talk.

I usually start watching at 10am and this whole week I haven’t seen it on, I was like “damn no Brady or Lebron news so I guess they just said FUCK IT”...LOL

Foxsports shut their production for all their shows last week. Im assuming they're trying to fill a void since people want sports.

That's exactly my point-- I think it would be easier to fill the void by airing it on TV.

I would have no idea these ESPN shows were online if I didn't hear Kornheiser mention it.

Foxsports shut production last week.
But if the actual shows are still being produced... Why not air them?

Is this an expenses measure? Kornheiser and Jimmy Fallon were using their wives as cameramen (or camerapeople :dunno:)-- Would the networks have to pay the whole staff if they aired the shows? Kind of fucked up if that's the reason for these shows being strictly online-- not respecting the safety of workers but avoiding paying them. (Hopefully they are all being paid-- they are probably salaried so I would guess that they are.)

I understand they aren't doing full-length shows, but something is better than nothing and they could put this on TV.

Man you gotta let that shit go. Its over. We tried. And yea, you have to separate the entertainment from all else. Tony is a very rich Jew and he loves his money.

Hes awesome at riffing on local shit and keeping his ear to the ground. Hes been one of the best sports talk guys for decades. If you listen close enough (and have been listening as long as i have), you can tell how big an influence he was on LeBetard and what he does.

 Why is this even a thread @mangobob79 has a 29 page one going???

I actually did a search for ESPN threads before starting this one, asshole.

This is about sports, I don't want to read through 29 pages of everything in the world that has been cancelled. Feel free to stay in Mango Bob's thread if you prefer that.

Let Batard show hasn't missed a beat
Best sports radio show there is

"Hasn't missed a beat" is odd because I'm listening to the first hour right now and he has spent the entire segment talking about how badly it has suffered and all the ways they are missing beats.

I tend to agree with him about this week-- it has been more of a typical sports show than usual from what I've heard; he said yesterday that he was getting exhausted with the Brady conversation-- but I agree with you generally.

That actually wasn't meant to be a part of my election griping, which won't be ending for several years.

Though I obviously deplore his position, I thought it was cool to get a fuller view of who he is, which is restricted by ESPN's "stick to sports" edict.

Does his thread have any of the non-cancelled content posted here that people didn't know existed?

In case you have had trouble understanding page one of this thread, this isn't about what has been cancelled, it's about what still exists or is coming back... you empty-headed skullhole.

Probaly not.... but it's the thread to post it in... not make another one.... same subject... skull hole with six rat turds rolling around in it, in a puddle of rat piss....

I don't think it has anything to do with Foxsports. I think Skip and Shannon did it on their own time,so fans can take their mind off of things.

I do think they had folks from Foxsports help setup things up for them though...:dunno:

"Post or talk about good content here." This is specifically a sports TV thread ABOUT NEW SHIT POPPING UP, not a massive "all cancelled events" thread.

Like I can just make a thread called "What's new on 3/19" and everybody is obligated to read everything in it before they make a post and anything related to today has to be in there. What a stupid ass fight to pick.

That's part of the charm of the show.
Under perfect conditions, they complain about how bad the show is
so it hasn't missed a beat lol
