Question for the SOL Fam...If a Man give you an engagement ring and ya'll broke up during the engagement. Would you give the Ring back or would you keep it?.... Just curious to hear some answers

If we ended on good terms, he can get the ring back. Otherwise it's going to the pawn shop.
He gets the ring back. The purpose for him purchasing it is not met so he has a right to have it back.
Depends on what he wants. Sometimes the man might want you to keep it. But otherwise he should get it back.
Damn ya'll way too nice. In a court of law the ring was a gift. Unless he makes the stipulation that you keep unless you don't get married, you get to do whatever you want with it.

What people fail to understand is that the recipient of an engagement ring has no inherent right to it if an engagement is broken off. It's a man's choice whether or not he allows the woman to keep it.
If a man requests the engagement ring back after a broken engagement and a woman refuses to return it, that man can actually sue the woman to get the ring back (and he will succeed in a court of law).
So ladies, regardless of the circumstances that might have surrounded a broken engagement, if the man requests for the ring back, it would suit you well to return it.

True. To be honest, I'd give it back even if he wanted me to keep it. Signature and return receipt.

I wouldn't even think about it giving the ring back would make it official. Why keep a promise ring of something you don't want to come true.

I even wear it sometimes...it doesn't mean the same to me anymore, and I don't like at it as symbolizing that either...
I have thought about melting it down, though, and making some nice diamond studs out of it, though

If he asked for it back, I would have given it back, plain and simple...
it really depends... if its the whole I can't go through with this here's your ring back then yea. But if it's the I caught you with another woman type deal then yea pawn shop/return that ish it goes.
