Joy Behar isn't the only one jumping ship on "The View" ... Elisabeth Hasselbeck is also bailing on ABC's daytime talk show.

Fox just released a statement, saying Hasselbeck will be replacing Gretchen Carlson on "Fox & Friends." A rep for ABC said Hasselbeck's last day on "The View" will be Wednesday.

Barbara Walters also released a statement, saying, "We have had 10 wonderful years with Elisabeth, and she will now be swimming in new waters. We will miss her and wish her everything good."

It's unclear who will replace Hasselbeck on the show ... but there are rumors Brooke Shields is being tapped for the job.

Elisabeth is expected to join "Fox & Friends" in September.

Elisabeth Hasselbeck is leaving ABC’s “The View” and taking a role as a co-host on Fox News Channel’s “Fox & Friends,” Fox News announced and “The View” confirmed.

“I have been a long-time fan of ‘Fox & Friends’ and am excited to be joining their team in September as it is an honor to call the Fox News Channel my new television home,” Hasselbeck said in a written Fox News Channel announcement.

Hasselbeck’s last day on “The View” will be Wednesday, according to ABC.

Hasselbeck joined “The View” as a co-host in November 2003. Her interviews on the show have included President Obama, Sen. John McCain, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and former presidents Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton and George W. Bush, according to her biography on “The View’s” website.

“For a decade, Elisabeth Hasselbeck has brought her passion and strong beliefs to ‘The View,’” ABC said in a statement. “We watched her journey from newlywed to motherhood, an Emmy Award-winning talk show host, author, entrepreneur and activist. She stood behind her political views even if they were not the most popular opinions at the table never shying away from voicing a difficult question. We thank Elisabeth and wish her luck as she begins this new chapter of her career.”

Prior to “The View,” Hasselbeck was known to TV audiences for reaching the final four on the second season of “Survivor.”

“When Elisabeth survived ‘Survivor,’ we wanted to make sure she would stay afloat,” said Barbara Walters, executive producer of “The View.” “We have had 10 wonderful years with her and she will now be swimming in new waters. We will miss her and wish her everything good.”

Hasselbeck will join Steve Doocy and Brian Kilmeade on the Fox News morning show in mid-September, Fox News Channel announced, as current “Fox & Friends” co-host Gretchen Carlson moves to an anchoring position on her own one-hour daytime show.

“Elisabeth’s warm and engaging personality made her a star on ‘The View,’” Fox News Chairman and CEO Roger Ailes said in a written statement. “She has proven to be an excellent conversationalist and I am certain she will make a great addition to our already successful morning franchise.”
 
So... all the rumors about her getting canned on The View WERE true. She's right where she always belonged now.

Jenny McCarthy is reportedly in the running to be the new co-host of "The View," according to sources.

"She is in serious talks right now," a source told Us Weekly. "Her show isn't quite working out, so she's definitely open to it."

Another source familiar with happenings on set said that McCarthy meshes well with the cast and crew of the show. "She's a good fit," the person said. "She may not be able to carry a show, but she works well with a group ensemble."

McCarthy has guest-hosted "The View" several times by now. In March, however, she denied rumors that she would be replacing Joy Behar as an official co-host, citing the show she is already hosting on VH1. Both she and Brooke Shields are rumored to be frontrunners for hosting "The View."

The show is headed for a major shake-up as it enters its seventeenth season in the fall. Behar — the only original co-host still with the show, besides Barbara Walters — is leaving at the end of this season. There have also been reports that Elisabeth Hasselbeck will be getting the boot, though both she and Walters have said she is not going anywhere.

anymore.
She's going to where she has likely been longing to go to for years.
Pretty funny how ABC didnt even give her to the end of summer to find another job.

Not necessarily. Those rumors have been around for years.
The Fox move with Carlson had been in the air for a while so looking at the entire picture, she left and wasn't fired.

She's going someplace where she's not the stupidest person on the show. She thought she was safe when Sherri Shepard got there but then Sherri got tired of being roasted for her dumbness and has taken time to prepare and actually bring notes out with her.

I don't see why people think she got fired. "The View" is a covert conservative show. Whoopi and Joy are propped up to make it look more liberal than it is. Name one liberal guest co-host they've ever had. But Megan Kelly's sat in. Patricia Heaton has sat in. Bill O'Reilly comes on all the time but Rachel Maddow has been there once and not at all since her book was a number one best seller. Elizabeth is the true voice of that show through their known Republican producer Bill Geddie.
