We are voting in a system designed to protect slavery in the South, which is now turned to a system of non-union, right to work, or low wage jobs, i.e. Walmart.

The electoral college is design to protect the status quo and prevent large policy fluctuations in democracy in the short run.

Don't blame the EC for a fucked up society, blame the fucked up society.
