I didn't know or hear about this and I know that area in Albany,NY.
I believe it cause NY state it's has a lot of dead spaces where they have little to no one living there,it's either your dirt poor,you work at a prison,college,or hospital or you live off of the government and you can see it driving visiting a lot of shiiity places where you might have some black people at but the people there know them but they don't know you and I blended in but I felt that in Albany and they knew I wasn't a local cause I didn't know nothing.Albany is cool but the outside areas is college towns and they cater them.The have bars,parties from friday to sunday,fight and do again the next weekend and there's not a lot of crime going on and the cops are pretty lenient but they don't like outsiders and don't think you're about to kick up dust there cause your not;the outside areas,the college areas them cac's don't like blacks and especially blacks from other places and you'll find some cool cac's here and there but you're going to hear a lot about who doesn't like you or blacks period.
NY state is shitty,unless you have the money passed them racist cac's in a nice area and you don't have to deal with them poor cac's or them broke working cac's who don't want you there.
I hope his family gets justice and it gets more media coverage
