slikpIt’s that time of year where thousands of people descend upon Los Angeles to attend E3. With the event kicking off soon, we’re curious about what to expect.

We’ve already discussed what games we aren’t even sure we’re going to see, but what about your favorite companies? What will Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo and others share this year?

To help you keep your expectations in check, we’ve compiled a list of our predictions from a handful of major companies presenting at E3 this year.

SONY
vlcsnap-2016-06-13-22h04m00s596.0.png

We expect Sony to focus on their hardware and some of their exclusive titles.

They’ve already revealed their Gold PS4 and perhaps we’ll hear about price drops for the PS4 Pro. With the PlayStation VR doing well, Sony might announce a price drop, and if not a price drop, maybe a new bundle.

And while we hoped to hear more about Hideo Kojima’s enigmatic Death Stranding, it seems like we won’t hear much.

You can watch Sony’s E3 2017 press conference on Monday, June 12 at 6 p.m. PDT / 9 p.m. EDT / 2 a.m. BST, June 13.

MICROSOFT

xbox_presser_generic.JPG

We expect Microsoft to make a big splash with the Scorpio and their services.

There’s a good chance we’ll learn some of the basics about the Scorpio, like its price and release date. And while VR is a priority for Microsoft as a company, that focus belongs to their computers, not the Xbox.

Microsoft’s ID@Xbox initiative will be bringing a host of indie games to Xbox. Let’s cross our fingers that we’ll get more info about Cuphead, Tacoma and Below. There are also some bigger games we’d like to see more of, like State of Decay 2, Crackdown 3 and Sea of Thieves.

There are other interesting services worth mentioning, like Xbox’s Play Anywhere, which is launching on Sept. 13.

You can watch Microsoft’s E3 2017 press conference on Sunday, June 11 at 2 p.m. PDT / 5 p.m. EDT / 10 p.m. BST.

NINTENDO

super_mario_odyssey_gta_4_screencap_1920.jpg

We expect Nintendo to focus on their Nintendo Switch titles primarily. Of course, you should also expect some news about the 3DS.

We’ll definitely hear about Super Mario Odyssey, Nintendo has confirmed as much. But with Splatoon 2 on the horizon and Arms launching at the tail end of E3, Nintendo should drop more details about both titles.

And as one of E3 2017’s worst kept secrets, we’ll likely get official word about Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle.

You can watch Nintendo’s E3 2017 press conference on Tuesday, June 13 at 9 a.m. PDT / 12 p.m. EDT / 5 p.m. BST .

EA, BETHESDA AND UBISOFT

fifa_18_ronaldo_cover_art_1920.jpg

Expect Electronic Arts to dig into their sports franchises like FIFA 18and Madden NFL 18. Not only that, we should hear more news about Star Wars Battlefront 2, Need for Speed Paybackand more. Here’s a full list of everything we expect EA to show off.

You can watch EA’s E3 2017 press conference on Saturday, June 10 at 12 p.m. PDT / 3 p.m. EDT / 8 p.m. BST.

ubisoft_new_2017_logo_2400.jpg

Expect Ubisoft to discuss some of their biggest franchises like Assassin’s Creed and Far Cry. We’ll likely hear updates about South Park: The Fractured But Whole, which got delayed, as well as updates about other games like Just Dance. Here’s a full list of what else we expect from Ubisoft this year.

You can watch Ubisoft’s E3 2017 press conference on Monday, June 12 at 1 p.m. PDT / 4 p.m. EDT / 9 p.m. BST.

fallout4art.0.jpg

Bethesda will be a bit of a wild card this year. One of the biggest rumors floating around is that the company will announce an open-world science fiction title called Starfield, although the source is pretty thin.

The biggest question is whether we’ll hear about some more familiar titles like Elder Scrolls Online, Skyrim for the Switch and possibly more Wolfenstein. Here’s the full rundown of what we expect from Bethesda.

You can watch Bethesda’s E3 2017 press conference on Sunday, June 11 at 9 p.m. PDT / 12 a.m. EDT, June 12 / 5 a.m. BST, June 12.

'Shenmue 3' delayed by up to a year

dims

The third part of the Shenmue saga has been delayed, developer Ys Net revealed in a Kickstarter update today. Shenmue 3 was supposed to ship this December, however that always seemed unlikely given how little we've seen of the game through screenshots and gameplay snippets. In a video, series creator Yu Suzuki broke the news that the title will now be released in the second half of 2018. "By utilizing new technologies, we have been able to discover new possibilities and expressions," he said. "In many ways, the game has become bigger and more beautiful than I initially expected. We do, however, need more time to deliver the game to you."

Shenmue and Shenmue II are considered cult classics from the Sega Dreamcast era. They follow teenager and martial arts student Ryo Hazuki as he tries to track down his father's murderer. The large, open worlds and ambitious simulation aspects — both games had a day-and-night cycle, for instance — won the pair plenty of praise in 1999 and 2001 respectively. In the years that followed, many assumed the franchise was dead, another victim of Sega's exit from the console business. But in 2015, Yu Suzuki announced a Kickstarter for Shenmue 3 during Sony's E3 press conference. The project blew up, raising $6.3 million from almost 70,000 backers.

Today's delay will be agonizing but, I suspect, acceptable to diehard Shenmue fans. They have, after all, waited 16 years to see the next chapter in Hazuki's story. What difference will another 12 months or so make? Especially if it produces another game worthy of the Shenmue name.

Assassin's Creed Origins is coming out this October according to a new leak

Assassin's Creed Origins has suffered so many leaks we're practically swimming in an ocean at this point. The latest leak comes from an early copy of Game Informer magazine that contains its entire cover story on the game.

The images posted on imgur give us our most substantial look at Assassin's Creed Origins yet, which may very well be one of the worst kept secrets ever. Development on the game began months before Assassin's Creed Unity shipped by the team behind Black Flag. The additional time spent on Origins after it was announced that the series would be skipping its annual release meant that the team could focus on polishing its new mechanics, including a brand-new fight system and brand-new AI.

Fans of earlier entries should remember the puzzles from Assassin's Creed 2 and Brotherhood which are making their way back into Assassin's Creed Origins. While they are slightly different, these puzzles focus on finding a suitable path through an area by navigating the environment and other hazards. There will be more than twenty such sites to explore.

The main protagonist, as most should know by now, is indeed Bayek, who has been the subject of numerous leaks. His tale is set against the reign of Cleopatra, whose incomplete story has lead to many legends surrounding her. This all but confirms the leaked t-shirt from days ago which dated the setting of the game at 49 BC.

As a section of the story notes, Assassin's Creed Origins will be one of the first titles running on Microsoft's Project Scorpio. While demoing the game on PC, Game Informer said the game felt fairly steady at 30 FPS, but on Scorpio it seemed to be more consistent, even at 4K resolutions. The team at Ubisoft got the game running on Scorpio within weeks of receiving their development kits. Assassin's Creed Origins is still being optimized, so the Scorpio version could see improvements by the time it releases.

Assassin's Creed Origins is set to be officially unveiled at Ubisoft's E3 press conference on June 12, but with the developer's luck a trailer will probably leak before then too. According to the cover, Assassin's Creed Origins is due out on October 27, 2017.

There is clearly a lot of information and games that will be detailed with this event, but some of the ones to note are Spider-Man for the PS4, the new Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry 5, and Destiny 2. It’s clear that Keighley wants to really promote a variety of different games, icons, and hardware that are set to release in the near future. One interesting inclusion is Hideo Kojima, as he has already confirmed his game Death Stranding will not be at E3 this year.

Make sure to come back for more E3 coverage here at Heavy.

Why are you interested in Scorpio?

Why are you interested in Scorpio?
This generation was very underwhelming as far as power so I would like a more powerful version of the systems we have now, instead of another generation. I think we should stop here honestly. Plus I really want to see what other features it has. I don't want to speculate too much because I was excited for the PS4 Neo and the Pro was just meh.

Hideo probably lying through his teeth   i bet at the end of his presentation he goes"Oh,there's one other thing i have to do.." and he shows the actual trailer for Death Stranding
