It isn’t only that Sherri Shepherd didn't know whether the world is flat. It’s that she seems proud of her ignorance.
Shepherd is the new co-host on The View. Whoppi Goldberg was lambasting Shepherd for her religion-based rejection of evolution. To make her point Goldberg asked "Is the world flat?"
Shepherd looked truly stumped. She answered "Is the world flat? I don’t know. I never thought about. Is the world flat? I never thought about it. I’ll tell you what I have thought about - how I am going to feed my child. How I am going to take care of my family. Is the world flat has not been an important thing to me."
So not knowing the answer to a question that a fifth grader would find insulting is evidence that one is a good parent, a person who provides for her kids and has her priorities straight. That’s bullcrap. When Shepherd said that she hadn’t thought about whether the world is flat but she had thought about feeding her child, Barbara Walters interrupted and said "You can do both." Thank you, Baba Wawa.
In his infamous routine "Niggas versus Black People" Chris Rock says
"You know what the worst thing about niggas is? Niggas love to not know. Nothing makes a nigga happier than not knowing the answer to your question. Just ask a nigga a question - any nigga - a question. What’s the capitol of Zaire?
[Here Rock imitates a nigga] ‘I don’t know that shit. Keeping it real.’
Niggas love to keep it real. Real dumb!"
For keeping it real, Sherri Shepherd is the Flat Earth Negro of the Week.
