What happened to letting each state govern themselves? That's his reason for telling states to kick rocks when they asked for federal disaster aid.
The real problem is that once these powers are attained there's essentially no way to scale them back.
This administration ignores court orders it doesn't agree with. It writes executive orders to circumvent Congress. There's no check on its power unless it loses the support of the military.
It's clear that they won't certify the next election if they lose and will exhaust every procedural avenue to attempt to hold power.

Was in D.C. like a month ago......
Considering how many delivery drivers were armed and the amount of police I saw as a teen / early 20 something compared to recently, it felt like crime was down.
Yes there were groups of teens posted up / loitering at a couple spots...... but as far me feeling fear or danger, nah.
This feels like authoritarianism / facism..... and as stated earlier, once this is the bar its going to be a very hard road to relinquish it

This is political. Crime is down in large cities and he is only talking about the cities with Black mayors.
