Picked up dual monitors for my work laptop. Unfortunately, they gave me an old ass laptop that won't pick up the Dual monitor, and the dumb fucking thing only has one HDMI port

What exact model of HDMI splitter do I need to buy because I bought one and it still won't read as a dual monitor. I want a true dual monitor not a simultaneous showing of the same monitor

This is what I just bought. Find the one I need on Amazon and I'll be your friend for life...or at least post more titties

Had the same issue when I filled in for a guy @ work. Fixed it in the "settings" section. I'll need a minute to remember what I did.

does the laptop have a usb-c port? that's what we use in our company... any of the visiontek brands work fine that have a usb-c port connection and have multiple hdmi inputs or even display port inputs.

You can try VGA to HDMI but your laptop would have to be capable of dual display, and that depends on other components such as your video card, mb, etc..

Beyond that, are your monitors able to output anything other than HDMI? Such as DVI, DD, or VGA?

It does have a USB-C port. Why does this matter?

I imagine you mean the connector between laptop and dock is USB-C, which would be nice but op probably has an older machine or one they were using for testing/ loaning.

Bruh is the laptop.....

List of available ports on the laptop?
List of available ports on monitors or model #?

There may be a docking solution for your laptop. Is it a Dell, Lenovo, HP?

It is a government issue Dell. There's a port available for a landline and a USB C port. That's it

Windows 10

it matters, then u can just get a usb-c port dock that u can plug in dual monitors. Amazon product ASIN B08CRCRPCJ
Good shit. I saw this yesterday and already had it saved to my cart, but the one I posted was the second HDMI splitter I bought and I wasn't about to buy another one until I had more information.

Bought it. It will be here Saturday. What did Denzel say...?

I went ahead and caught one similar. I was going to look up the exact model number, but I ordered a couple different examples. Whichever one works and it's cheaper I'll go with that one and just return the other one

Thanks y'all. Really appreciate this. I'm not trying to spend a whole lot as this is for my work computer and not for my own personal shit

This says you may need an adapter or dock instead of a splitter. Also that your graphics card has to support dual monitors.

There is a setting in windows to extend the monitor so it's one continuous monitor.

That's the problem. With the HDMI splitter I used, it will not detect another monitor. I tried that though. Thanks. I'll let you know on Saturday whether the one I bought suggested by one of y'all works

Say it again for the people in the back.

If your laptop is as old as you say it is, you probably won't be able to do shit because the video card ain't strong enough to output to dual monitors.

What's the model of the laptop? You normally can look the spec sheet up and it tells you if the video card even supports what you're trying to do.
