Dr. Khalid Muhammad Sister has filed legal action against hip hop artist for using his voice without credit or payment.

This will be an interesting case, many of the recordings that she's referencing were done while he was still alive & some he willingly participated in. Now the ones that were done after he died I'd think they had a better claim.

Some of these would have been released in the 90s I'd be surprised if there isn't a statute of limitations on these claims.

does his estate has copyright and intellectual property of the caption and reproduction of the said speeches?

Good question.

He was in the Nation until 1994 when he gained prominence so I would assume they'd own any speeches given during that period but I'm not sure if they actually copywrite the speeches of their ministers.

You don't have to copyright a speech in order to sue some for using it without your consent, copyrighting can make proving it's yours easier.

Why does she wait now? Did Khalid give them the right to use his messages? Or, is she trying to make a come up, opportunistic shit!
