last week that ridiculous cowboys v. giants game, this week the bengals v. browns.

i know some people prefer high scoring contests, but i say NO!

:smh:

You need games like this to so the casual fan can see that you can score 35 points and still not win. This lets folks appreciate teams like the ravens that traditionally have not been able to score but can shut you down and win.

This is exactly why baseball has lost me as a fan. Who ever can score the most with no strategy or defense involved.

It's all the rule changes. DBs can no longer guard a WR without
a flag being thrown. The rule changes have made it virtually impossible
to contain a WR on a deep route. The only thing stopping teams
from just airing it out all the time is when you have a vicious pass
rush. But if you have no pass rush (like the Jets and Giants), your
secondary is going to get burned constantly. Then if you try to
offset your lack of a pass rush by blitzing, you run the risk of giving
up big plays on regular short passes (like a screen pass). Hence, if
you have a saavy QB who can read a defense, and you have no pass
rush, that QB will tear your defense to shreds

Unless he has a rag arm like Chad Pennington that is

It is impossible for a DB to guard a WR (who is usually the fastest cat
on the team) for 20, 30, 40 yards THEN have to turn his head and look for the ball when it's being thrown. Once he takes his eye off
the man he is guarding, he is LOST.

There used to be several kinds of cornerbacks: One who would only
cover his man. Only concentrating on knocking the ball down and neve
worrying about interceptions; The big hitters who weren't very good
cover men, but would knock your block off once you caught a pass.
Then there was the gambler. This guy wasn't a great cover corner.
He always went after the interception. Sometimes he'd get it, but most
times he would not. And when he didn't get it, he would be burned
because the cornerback is the last line of defense.

Well, the shut down corner has been phased OUT of the game today.
If he doesn't look back at that pass when it's on the way, he will
almost ALWAYS be penalized by Hocule and the other blind mice refs
A DB used to be able to sort of face guard his man (a lock down corner
back), but he can no longer do so.

And we know hitting is being outlawed more and more every season.
You can no longer hit a QB above the shoulders. You can also no longer
hit a QB below the knees. So now 275 Lb cats carrening around the
offensive tackles have to slow down when they get to the QB and
only hit him where the rules say you can

So the shut down corner is outlawed. The big hitting saftey (Ronnie
Lott) is outlawed, the only cat left is the gambler. Hence, all the big
plays

Sucks really. If it wasn't for fantasy football, I wouldn't even watch
football games anymore
