Don Cheadle has reportedly signed on to executive produce an HBO Max series about one of the first Black millionaires, called The Other Hamilton. Cheadle, best known for his roles in Hotel Rwanda, the Ocean's trilogy, and as James Rhodes/War Machine in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, currently stars in the Showtime series, Black Monday. In 2021, Cheadle reprised his MCU role as James Rhodes in the Disney+ series, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and What If...?, appeared in Space Jam: A New Legacy, and starred in Steven Soderbergh's No Sudden Move on HBO Max.
The upcoming series marks another collaboration between Cheadle and Soderbergh, who Variety reports also signed on as an executive producer. The Other Hamilton will follow Jeremiah Hamilton, a real-life Haitian immigrant who grows into the nickname Prince of Darkness as a millionaire in New York in the 1800s. The series is based on Shane White's 2015 book, "Prince of Darkness: The Untold Story of Jeremiah G. Hamilton, Wall Street's First Black Millionaire." Variety previously reported in 2017 that Cheadle would produce and star in a movie adaptation of the book.

A Black Lady Sketch Show cast member and writer Ashley Nicole Black, Carlos Foglia, and Keith Josef Adkins will also serve as writers and executive producers on the new series. Cheadle has collaborated with Soderbergh as an actor in a number of Soderbergh's past directorial projects, including Out of Sight (1996), Traffic (2000), and his comedic role as Basher Tarr in Soderbergh's Ocean's trilogy. Meanwhile, Soderbergh's involvement in The Other Hamilton shows a continued working relationship with HBO and HBO Max after he signed an overall creative deal with the platform in 2020. While reporting from years past indicated Cheadle would also star in the project, no casting announcements have been made yet.
