Dodge and SRT have created a racer for the road with the Viper ACR
The 2016 Dodge Viper ACR has insane grip levels and is powered by a gargantuan V-10 engine.
The 2016 Dodge Viper ACR is a street-legal racecar, with performance and grip levels nearly unheard of in the world of supercars.
How about 1.5 Gs worth of cornering force? Thanks to its adjustable aerodynamics, including a gagantuan carbon-fiber rear wing, this Viper can do it.
In fact, the aptly-named ACR Extreme Aero Package delivers a total of 1 ton of downforce at top speed.

“The Viper has always been more of a street-legal race car than a track-capable streetcar, and the new 2016 Dodge Viper ACR is the fastest street-legal Viper track car ever,” said Tim Kuniskis, president and chief executive officer of Dodge Brand and SRT Brand, FCA North America. “Our goal is to arm our enthusiasts with the ultimate Viper track car to dominate road courses around the world.”
We wouldn't bet against it, even when you consider rivals like the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 and Nissan GT-R aren't going to make life easy for this ultimate Viper.
Even the tires have been designed specifically for the Viper ACR. These Kumho Ecsta V720 performance tires (295/25/19 front, 355/30/19 rear) are supposedly faster around a racetrack than all-out racing rubber.
The race-tuned suspension features 10-setting, double-adjustable, coil-over Bilstein racing shocks.
8.4-liter V-10 engine produces the most torque of any naturally-aspirated motor in the entire world. The dual element carbon-fiber rear wing is adjustable too. The Viper ACR is fitted with incredibly strong carbon-ceramic brakes. The Viper ACR is fitted with super sticky Kumho Ecsta V720 high-performance tires. Horsepower hasn't been bumped, though you can't really say the Viper needs more oomph. The 8.4-liter engine produces 645-horsepower and 600 lb.-ft. of torque, making it the most torque-rich, naturally-aspirated engine in the world. So yeah, power isn't an issue here.
“This car is not a 1-3 lap track special. You can run the car at the track all day, and the performance doesn’t fall off,” added Kuniskis.
Set to go on sale this autumn, the Viper ACR will carry a price north of $110K, or what you'd pay for the current Viper GTS.

A set of 10-position, double-adjustable, coil-over Bilstein shocks is part of the ACR's race-tuned suspension. This allows for 3 inches of height adjustment and is a boon for customizing the Viper for different racetracks. Bringing things to a sudden stop are huge, carbon-ceramic venilated brakes supplied by Brembo.<iframe width="1280" height="720" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/e4dwcOGjA9k" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
