i'm a comic book reader, much like the everyone else here, and i've noticed the Captain America and Batman share similarities as well as the obvious differences.
anyone ever notice how they both seemingly died and were each lost in time (which is bullshit because they both left remains behind so this to me was a slap in the face of collectors that thought they had a had a gem by buying a first print copy of each comic)? they both had kids as sidekicks and at one time or another a female as a side kick. whats the deal with this?

Most people would like to say that Cap is different than Bats in that Cap is an enhanced human because he took a drug.

Most people forget that so did Batman. He took Venom aka Bane's juice when he needed it and years later it was discovered that he still had some residual of it in his system.

What it comes down to is that they are white, male, human, use symbols to inspire (fear/patriotism) and their choice of weapons are unique.

Sadly, both these characters are ruined for me as a collector/reader. Cap died on the court house steps for me by a regular bullet to the gut - fighting and defending what he thought was right. Batman is Dick Grayson to me. Anything else after that is 100% pure bullshit. Marvel and DC are afraid to venture into the unknown.

It's quite tiring as a reader. It's also quite ridiculous when you are talking to new readers because they will ask questions like "How old is so and so?" and "When is someone else going to pick up the mantle?" What at first would have seemed as noob question are actually legitimate and worthy of an answer.

both are good answers ..... which comic is that storm?

JLA vs Avengers

Batman won their fight in Marvel vs. DC but in JLA vs AVENGERS, BATMAN said to himself (and i'm paraphrasing) "a Few more moves and Cap will beat me, I need to stop this fight" (or something along those lines). I think thats bullshit. Cap may be enhanced but Bruce is a better fighter.

Maybe.

Captain America 616 vs Batman (Regular DC) = Batman wins

Captain America Ultimate vs Batman (Regular DC) = Cap wins

Ok, isn't Cap(616) more one the level of Deathstroke the Terminator than Batman? Slade Wilson's origin, if I got it right, seemed to more like he was a Captain America gone bad.

If anything though - whenever DC and Marvel crossed-over wouldn't a better match be Batman vs. Black Panther?

Cap (616) match in the DC universe should be the original Guardian or if you want to be more technical SHIELD.

Batman vs Black Panther would sort of be a better match except BP dips into magic. The way Batman is dipping into other bullshit right now that may not be a problem.
