Digital Archiving and Collecting

Has anyone here done digital archiving for their family or for the area that you live in? How did you organize and start? Any tips for doing it seriously and possibly sharing or making it accessible to others/researchers/libraries? There are a lot of little local things I want to preserve and have available for the future that could be interesting. Local Zines from people, old tapes and family stuff as well.

That was a business idea I was mulling over. Our seniors are analog, as well as their stories and so much has potential to get lost. Tools I was looking at: a mobile scanner, Snapseed app. It's a lot of work on just a personal level and I have a small family but I can think of 20 photo albums easily. Then you think about other print stuff plus the stories to go with them...

I have a lot of photos, was looking at this Epson fast foto scanner because my family has hella photos and old papers. I also have old video but finding working cameras is difficult to do.

I picked up a new vcr from the pawn shop for converting tapes. I use a reguler cannon mx printer to load pictures that are automatically stored to pc. I use a ssd for storage and a second ssd to back up the first.

Then consider having them auto load to the cloud of your choice for sharing and portability and some software that will give some light enhancements, for those scans that need it
