Did anyone see This Christmas yet?

I saw it. I thought it was really funny. There is a scene with Regina King that might make you fall on the movie theater floor in laughter!!! LOL

It's a nice, family kind of movie though.

saw it. thought it was good. chicutie is right- that scene with regina king is HILARIOUS!! i hit rewind about 10 times

I asked because I was listening to Jamie Foxx's show and Regina King called and all he did was rave about how great she looked and performed in the movie.

Had me very hyped. They all did a round robin asking her questions too. I think she does a very good job with balancing that urbanesque type female with class in roles.

A damn good movie!...especially if you're a family person...right on par with Tyler Perry's latest movie. It's definitely one to go see on the big screen.

I hate to be a scrooge but I wasn't a big fan of this movie. It had a great cast, and the acting was cool for what was given to them, but I couldn't help but compare this to any of the recent Tyler Perry movies.

I loved Tyler's Last few flicks because they had an air of authenticity. The dialogue sounded real. Some of the situations were about people that I knew.

This Christmas felt like a Hollywood flick trying to tap into the Tyler appeal. The dialogue and situations were like an extended episode of Family Matters or something. It was just trite. The dramas felt like perfect sitcom commercial cues. Not bad, I guess, but totally 'made for tv'.

Now while Why Did I Get Married wasn't the deepest flick, it certainly had depth.

Sorry to compare the two. This Christmas had NO soul...

I didn't hear good things about it. Friends of mine said it was a disappointment after "Why Did I Get Married?" so i decided to wait on that one.

I was looking forward to "A Perfect Holiday" (Morris Chestnut, Gabrielle Union, Queen Latifah, Faizon Love, Terrence Howard, Charlie Murphy, Katt Williams, Jill Marie Jones, Rachel True), but the reviews have been really bad :(

Sak, that is interesting considering I cannot stand Tyler Perry's writing most of the time. Now he really came up in "WDIGM" but to me it seemed, at least from the trailers I've seen, that "This Christmas" had a better script.

Been off the boards so you've probably seen it by now, but This Christmas has a more Hollywood script. It's technically cool, hits all the right beats. It just didn't have the soul that WDIGM did. The cast was on point, though. Loved seeing all the black folks and definitely loved seeing every damn minute of Regina King (who I've been feelin' since Poetic Justice), but overall, I don't have to see it again. Cool. Disposable. Worth a rental.

On the Tyler tip, I didn't like his stuff AT ALL until Madea's Family Reunion (the movie). Call me a sucker. He loves black folk. That love, combined with making an entire movie to counteract the black men ain't shit stereotype (Daddy's Little Girls), and proactively showing healthy black relationships (WDIGM), and he's made a fan outta me. While I can skip that grown man in a dress bullshit, I'm always ALWAYS down to see the soul of black folk on screen by somebody that gives a damn.

I thought it was a great movie.

It's interesting how just because This Christmas and Why Did I Get Married are black movies people compare them. They're completely different--just cuz the casts are brown don't make them the same! lol

WDIGM is more drama/comedy This Christmas is a family flick that's supposed to be light.
