Derrick Rose, former No. 1 pick, MVP and a three-time All-Star, just announced that he’s retiring after 16 seasons in the NBA.

I was wondering why he arranged to be waived from Memphis

I didn't realize he was 36. Time flies.

He's sort of in the Grant Hill and Yao Ming category

D.Rose was one of the most fastest players ever with those electric dunks and shooting and dude could jump high which was fun to watch.

Sadly things changed when he started dealing with injuries while getting older.

I just wished he got a ring before he retired.

He seems so at peace and I’m happy for him and his family. Carrying the expectations of a city on his back since HS and met and exceeded all that was asked of him. Kid from Englewood, Chi-Town. Much respect.

As much as I wish he’d have gotten an NBA title, I REALLY wish ’08 Memphis couldve won that ‘ship, he’d be King of two cities.

Dude was Jason (Jay) Williams 2.0. He should of won a NCAA chip if it wasn't for 2 missed free throws and a lucky 3 pointer. Injuries sidelined his NBA career.

He got seriously injured pretty early in his career, so I don't think we ever got to see what he was truly capable of in the league.

Just off of that 5 minute highlight reel in the thread, as far as what could of been from what we had already seen, D. Rose might be my bigger what if than Grant Hill and Grant Hill injury free was gonna have records that would have been hard to break. Man, D. Rose was so STRONG!

I remember during his peak years talking to a few friends who were casual sports fans at best. They were following the Bulls because of him, and appreciating how exciting he was as a smaller player & definitive game changer.
