I knew it was being mispronounced but not this part. Coo story. I’m sure early in his career he just said “Fuck it” and went with it. Many friends have simple names no one can get right. Others, because of culture, like Asian names, Hispanics, you may need to hear it from them. My ex is Puerto Rican and black, her name is pronounced “Cholaaandahh” at home, but Yolanda, here. My Asian friend is Wang, but it’s WONG. No black person alive can period Sade. Lmao! I may know of ONE who gets that right. Tell a black person your name is Xavier, they’ll fall over themselves mispronouncing it.
I think the same about Converse. People heard it on Martin 30 years ago as Conversate and didn't realize that was the joke. And over time it's taken over the original word. Even people who should know better use Conversate now.
