Defense Mechanisms are the egos attempts to keep damaging thoughts from our concious minds

I'm sure most people can relate and if you can't it's probably you.

Ever talk to someone that's just completely in denial? Try to argue with them & they are so emotionally wrecked that they need help more then what you can offer?

I see a lot of it online. Especially if someone tries to teach another person something because online there are a lot of "know it alls".

Level I - psychotic defenses (i.e. psychotic denial, delusional projection)
Level II - immature defenses (i.e. fantasy, projection, passive aggression, acting out)
Level III - neurotic defenses (i.e. intellectualization, reaction formation, dissociation, displacement, repression)
Level IV - mature defenses (i.e. humour, sublimation, suppression, altruism, anticipation)

How do you deal with people like this?

I know a lot of people that try to justify the shit they do as if it's ok because they did something good. I know someone that talks about another person behind their back, lies...but they get defensive when you tell them to stop and cut it out and they start denying, naming the good things they do and how you should be appreciative of the things they do, and start bringing up the bad things you have did that dont got nothing to do with anything.

How do you deal with these kinda people?

kick they asses, they say a prayer to ______ (insert various god/deity)to heal them...

No on the real, I have reduced the quality of my life in the past trying to "help" people (friends and family members) like that. Shame on me. The best way is to lead by example, it's a win win situation for you and the "disturbed" party/parties involved...cant help others until you help yourself. my old saying was "I can slow down the train so you can jump on board, but I aint stoppin"..

U cant allways avoid them. Sometimes they are our own families, our wives families...

but lets say it's a family member rather distant or not

That how most of my immediate family is.... The older ones at least. I have a tendency to live outta state far from them. I did'nt realize that this is probably my subconscious motivation until this year. I love them dearly, but its pretty much dysfunctional from an emotional/communicative standpoint. All I ever wanted was peace and tranquility in my physical environment, self and personal interactions, many folks are quite the contrary. Aint much you can do because you cant "go" inside peoples minds and shift them around literally. You could possibly brainwash them into positivity perhaps (without them knowing). that would be a full time job, and you increase the risk of martyring yourself. show compassion, but dont be an enabler. I wish I could change my fam, but some of this shit been going on for generations.... :smh:

here's something else I used to say about this..

We all supposedly have 7 chakras correct? Ok, We that means we are all equipped with the same tools develop spiritually.

They are just as accountable for they shit as you are, they incarnated into life to learn just like you did...It hurts, but sometimes you gotta let em fall face first, then they can choose to look at you and see what makes you "different". At that point they can discern to adopt your productive stance or not. In the grand scheme of things it's really not your problem.

peep this when you get a chance, you gotta find all the parts on you tube. It delves into the psychology and toxicity of the modern mind. It's pretty good in my opinion.
