He DID the bullshit programming.
For your information, this while last year, BET has tried to change their programming and add a whole lot more to the news department- but no one is watching it.
Bob Johnson said a few years back that he realized that BET is just that-- Black Entertainment Television. They tried to be all things to Black folk, but it didnt necessarily work out, because their entertainment aspect of it was the most profitable. Noticre that they are THE only black channel that has been around as long as they have and one of very FEW startups of ANY kind to stil be around. Bottom line- it's hard to keep a channel afloat.
it's really easy and convenient for all of us to look at BET and say ot just went "down the tubes" on it's own but the consumers have a huge part to play in it.
Now back to this geek- watch his little "documentary". His claim to positive programming was DMX and Eve? He admitted that he misused his power to put on whatever the hell he wanted. That's fine, but it's debatable that the content he approved of was "toxic" or not.
He created SPRING BLING, if you can call it creation, because MTV had a Spring Break special Loong before that. How does he think a college holiday based show can "mature"?
He's full of shit, and he's bitter. And now he's damn near homeless, because he refuses to accept his responsibility in his situation.
I would like to see more good things on BET as well, or anywhere on TV for that matter, but it's up to us to respond to these things when they are shown and pay money for them.
