Comic Dave Chappelle is set to make his Saturday Night Live debut as host of the November 12 show — the first one after Election Day. A Tribe Called Quest, which is releasing its first album since 1998 the day before, will be the musical guest on NBC’s late-night stalwart.

Chappelle is a veteran stand-up comic and actor who from 2003-2006 created and starred in the popular and influential Comedy Central sketch series Chappelle’s Show. He made his big-screen debut in Mel Brooks’ Robin Hood: Men In Tights and went on to co-write and star in the 1998 stoner classic Half-Baked. He also produced and starred in the Michel Gondry-helmed docu Dave Chappelle’s Block Party.

Created and produced by Lorne Michael, SNL has been getting plenty of comic fodder from the wacky presidential election. Among its most popular recent bits are the recent Donald Trump-Hillary Clinton debate spoofs starring Alec Baldwin and Kate McKinnon. The Saturday Night Live Primetime Election Special will air November 7, the day before America votes.

He will make his debut on Nov. 12.

Saturday Night Live has landed a big name for it's first post-election show.

Dave Chappelle is set to make his hosting debut on Nov. 12, it was announced Friday.

Chappelle, best known for his acclaimed Comedy Central series in addition to his stand-up, has rarely made TV or other public appearance in the years since he abruptly left Chappelle's Showin 2005 and the series ended the following year. In recent years, he has returned to stand-up, most famously performing 10 nights at Radio City Music Hall in June 2014, and even appeared in Spike Lee's 2015 film Chi-Raq.

A Tribe Called Quest, who are about to release their first album in 18 years, will serve as the musical guest.

SNL will next welcome Benedict Cumberbatch for his hosting debut on Nov. 5.

Can't wait, who's filling in for Phife dawg, hard to work around any classics

I haven't watched a full episode of SNL in like 15 years first of all. Second of all, don't be mad because your the only dude in here throwing hate and no one is agreeing. Lame. And I bet you watch

I thought I told you to shut the fuck up you silly feminine faggit

So typical! SNL has been in the shitter for years. Nowhere near as funny as the Pryor and Murphy days.

Who can save the show and boost ratings? Yup black folks! They know Chappelle is that Dude! Toss in Tribe Called Quest and its a recipe for success and these crackers know it!

Fucking culture vultures!

No Corny Shit, Dave should bring in his own writers....
Agree, Neal needs to be on that team and if they can somehow work in his before skit monologue, that would be perfect. I think Chappelle show's skit's worked so well because Dave actually set them up before he showed them. It was perfect.

Not true. The last time they had Jamie Foxx on there, his writing team wrote a few of his sketches (the better ones). I think they also let Kevin Hart's team do the same. He'll still have to do some bullshit ones SNL's writers will come up with.

Great to hear. I hope Dave & ATCQ do Phife proud.

Was scrolling through my FB & Twitter timelines/feeds after he had passed, and it was good to see how far reaching their music was. People that I never knew followed the group (or hiphop for that matter) were dropping RIP messages and quoting lyrics and posting photos. That's the sign of a damn good group on the whole. People acknowledging how important a group they were & all the quality ♫ they provided.

You on point, Phife? All the time, Tip. Shoutout from the collective BGOL fam' here.
