For a self proclaimed lazy comic - this nigga sure ties a lot of callbacks together. And tightly.

Watched it last night with my wife. I thought it was OK. Not his funniest show but his storytelling was good. Dave is more of a storyteller now than he is a comedian.
I think it has to do with his connection with his audience. Dave reminds me of an old rapper like Jay Z....Yeah, he can drop a dope song from time to time but because he's so old and successful, most people can't relate to the shit he raps about now.
Dave has had so much success, it's hard for him to connect with his audience, which is why I think he he isn't as funny as he used to be.

It's not that people can't relate as much as people questioning his character. Early Dave came off very humble, thoughtful and of high moral character. Some of his behavior is coming of as arrogance to a degree. As others said, his associations also call into question his character. Instead of reflecting on what's being said to him ( old Dave) , he's taking it as attacks (some are). For example, i thought some of the trans jokes were funny. However, i also thought he should move on especially if it wasn't any ill intent. You don't have to apologize for a joke, but you also don't need to double/triple down.
Overall Jay-Z has never been relatable to the majority of his audience and usually he finds a way to move back to drug dealing reference and money talk. Most people aren't drug dealers even if you come from poor environments and most never even see Jay's 90s lifestyle. I guess you could relate to the overall environment aspect or drive to come up depending on your background. 444 was an attempt to show case a growth and overall you hear mixed feelings. His fans have grown and he hasn't found a way to musical grow with them and it doesn't really seem to be a priority.

Huge fan of his past work and imo one of the best to ever get on stage, unfortunately he got caught up with racists, grifters and slave owners.(Not to mention his little spat with the city he lives in attempting to build affordable housing near his property.) Worst of all he's just not that funny anymore, he's not much different than listening to any other hypocrite with a podcast these days.

Naw this is facts. It’s one of the biggest culprits in entertainment. A artist( comedian, painter, film director, rapper, etc) makes art and type of art they make changes as they change. I’ve been watching Dave since I was a child. I can laugh with him then and as a 30 almost 40 old man. It ain’t the same and it shouldn’t be. If you haven’t grown and road this ride it may be hard to stomach someone’s art that has grown. Dave knew stuff is a good combination of seriousness and funny. I enjoy it.
