Dave Chappelle is coming back with three Netflix specials.

Fresh off his stint as host of “Saturday Night Live,” Dave Chappelle appears to be finally ready to give the people what they want.

Netflix announced Monday that the company has ordered up three new Chappelle comedy specials.

“Dave Chappelle is a legendary voice in comedy — searing, vital, and now more than ever, essential,” Lisa Nishimura, Netflix’s vice president of original documentary and comedy, said in a statement issued Monday. “Dave’s three new specials promise to be some of the most anticipated events in comedy.”

The shows ― one of which will reportedly be a Netflix original special, and two of which will come from past performances at Austin City Limits Live and the Hollywood Palladium ― will constitute his first TV specials in 12 years, after the comedian largely disappeared from the public eye at the height of his celebrity. The two already-recorded specials will be released simultaneously in 2017.

News: 3 new Dave Chappelle comedy specials, coming soon.

11:01 AM - 21 Nov 2016

The news comes just over a month after Netflix announced that it had ordered two specials from Chris Rock, and the company will reportedly pay Rock a total of $40 million. The dollar amount shocked the comedy world when it was first announced, but it is indicative of a mission that regards original programming as vital to future success. The company announced in October that it would spend $6 billion in 2017on content, more than NBC and CBS.

Netflix has also released comedy specials by comedians including Aziz Ansari and Patton Oswalt, the latter of which earned an Emmy this year.

While am happy for him, cause the original amount he was offered for his show was 50m. This is great but hope it's good, his past stand up was blah. The Chappelle Show was epic.

So we'll see...

To each his own. When you compare his skits on his show to his stand up, was much to be desired. Personally chuckled, but wasn't as funny as others.

And I'm talking the two standups he did after walking away from his show. Y'all really think those were great?

this is why that rumor better not be true or if it is true why netflix need to turn down disney offer of being brought by them..they rep the alternative program that hollywood is to dumb to go after..i was waiting for netflix to jump into the comedy realm now they have..fuck around and have gameshows in the future..bravo netflix keep up the good work

Saw him two months ago. His standup was/is goat status

have u ever seen him live?
next to pryor, he may be the goat.
No haven't. Just the two specials he had on TV. Don't get me wrong, got madd respect for him as a comedian, just expected him to be a lot funnier especially when the show went off air.

I look forward to the new shows.
