New Orleans rapper Mystikal was released from a Federal Prison in Louisiana last week, after serving close to three years behind bars.

As SOHH previously reported, Mystikal (born Michael L. Tyler) was sentenced to six years in prison in 2004, for forcing his hairstylist to perform oral sex on him as repayment for allegedly stealing $80,000 worth of checks from him. Last year Tyler was sentenced to an additional year in federal prison for tax evasion charges; that time was served concurrently with his previous sentence.

Yeah but the rap game has changed. Just because you had a hot album a year or two ago doesn't mean you are going to have another one. Especially with all the bootlegging going on.

I wish the cat the best, but if strong mofos like Ludacris & Jay-Z are just barely going platinum, he might have a hard time with it. Musicians only get money if they have successful tours. If not, they have their 55 cents per CD...unless they are on Koch records. And they don't pay that much more.

His problem is he is to old and unknown now for new school southern rap and he wasn't around long enough for OG southern rap status. He was on the verge when he got locked up.
