The Kansas City Chiefs capitulated, and the Miami Dolphins flinched.

One of perhaps the longest-running trade discussions in NFL history finally came to an end Tuesday when the Chiefs dealt quarterback Trent Green to the Dolphins for a conditional draft pick.

The Dolphins gave up a fifth-round pick in 2008 that could become a fourth-round pick if Green reaches certain performance standards, a source said. Green has had an agreement on a contract with the Dolphins since March after Green was given permission to seek a trade by Kansas City.

Green was allowed to seek a trade after the Chiefs told him that he would split practice time and have to compete with second-year quarterback Brodie Croyle for the starting position.

The Dolphins have been interested in getting Green as a replacement for quarterback Daunte Culpepper, who is expected to be released or traded by the Dolphins. Culpepper still is recovering from surgery to remove scar tissue from his right knee in November. Culpepper suffered a three-ligament knee injury that ended his 2005 season with Minnesota.

It's unlikely the Dolphins will be able to deal Culpepper, who has a base salary of $5.5 million for the 2007 season.

The trade concluded after three months of discussion. Chiefs president Carl Peterson initially had asked for two draft picks for Green, including at least a second-rounder. Kansas City then asked for a fourth-rounder before the draft in April.

Dolphins general manager Randy Mueller said he would not give up more than a sixth-rounder for Green. However, the Dolphins are holding a three-day minicamp this weekend and wanted Green to participate in the practices.

Fu-k Dante. His bitch ass got Moss tossed and then he goes and ask for a raise with a injury to his knee. We had shit popping in MN with Moss. Then these assholes trade him for Napolian ???? Harris. Fu-k Dante. He sounded like Sprewell.. It must be a Minnesota thang. :hmm:

Where do you get off trashing Daunte for calling out a notorious "quitter" like Moss? You can't save a hoodrat that doesn't wanna be saved (though Brady finally might, without even tryin' hard).
